Let's see if he can pull this one out today, although because he is headed back to Makushita more than likely, I guess I need him to lose. If Takakento takes the torch, he's almost certainly going to be promoted, and likely won't be at the bottom of the division either, so we should get a large number of torch matches again next basho in that case, though we'll miss out on the last two of this basho. If Kyokukaiyu still holds the torch until the end of the basho, he'll still be in Juryo too. I don't think he can face anyone in Juryo in danger of demotion despite winning a match - Kayo and Tamashoho should be safe with one more win, and everyone else active with a chance of demotion he's already faced. Maybe Endo joins for Day 15 and wins, but they still demote him? The only real dangers I'm seeing is if he wins today and then is given another Makushita opponent who ends up not promoted somehow despite winning an exchange bout - it's certainly happened at least once recently - or he loses day 14 to someone ranked high enough in Juryo to not have faced all the demotion candidates yet who loses to someone destined for demotion Day 15. Based on the Juryo projection by Spiffy and my own low effort guesses for Makushita. This might not be 100% complete for those within 10 slots, as I didn't try all that hard to determine all of whom would be in the top of Makushita, so Hoshihitomi with Seihakuho/Ms9w and kuroimori with Dewanoryu/J13w will be at least somewhat close to 10 slots distance depending on where their rikishi end up, though they'll be less likely to take advantage of it since they won't be particularly high in Makushita.
