Ura (Makushita 19E)  is 3-0, after beating Tsushimanada today by yorikiri. He is currently on an 18 bout winning streak!!

Taihou's grandson Naya (Makushita 5E, third eldest) lost to Chiyoarashi and is 1-2. 

Mudouhou, Taihou's other grandson (youngest) has kind of slipped our minds.. He is actually doing very well, career record 15-2 and is 3-0 at Sandanme 84W in his third actual basho.

And his third grandson Houzan (second eldest), is 4-0 at Jonokuchi 20W, after going 2-1 in maezumo in March. There is another grandson, Yukio, but he's a pro-wrestler.

Chiyonokuni is 3-0 at Makushita 12 W.

Amakaze, former Juryo stalwart and one basho in Makuuchi and seemingly nice guy, was injured in July 2018 and dropped all the way down to Jonidan 50. He is gradually working his way back to you babe, 7 straight kks and is now 3-0 at Makushita 36E.

Joukouryuu, Makushita 4W,  beat Kyokusouten today and is 2-1.

Toyohibiki (Makushita 10E) beat Kizenryuu today and is 2-1 as well.

Then we have the two headed monster headed for greatness Dewanoryuu the Mongolian, Sandanme 49E, 16-1 career, 16 win streak at the moment (3-0 this basho) and Nihonyanagi at Sandanme 54W, 15-2 career and 2-1 this basho.

Bolivian Kirameki (Daniel VELEZ GARCIA ) is ranked at Jonidan 79E and is 3-0. He was 5-2 in his debut basho. He is regarded as a Japanese citizen from Aichi.

Shishi, Ukranian newcomer in his first basho ( Sergey Sokolovski) 2-1 at Jonokuchi 14 W. 2-0 in Maezumo in March.

And for the heck of it, there's a new guy at Jonokuchi 13W in his first basho. His full name is Shouri Shori. He is 3-0 at the moment. Shori about that.

Day 7, Ura stopped by Shonannoumi, never really got off the starting blocks.  Somehow the hiragana count was 8-2 in favour of Shonannoumi and maybe this was just too much a deficit for even Ura to overcome.

Shonnanoumi is one to keep an eye on himself. He is young, big and tall, and has a lot of tools, and though he's struggled to put it all together consistently at the higher makushita ranks, I still like his sekitori potential a lot.

He's very impressive in many ways, his shikona included. I will resist comparing him to his brother- I hope both young Nayas (Nayae?) can avoid feeling the pressure that comes with the lineage.

Man, poor guy has no luck. At least it's a KK. I very much doubt it will happen, but if he's anything less than 100% he should Kyujo now and take whatever upward movement he gets -- surely he's a chance at entering mk10+ already?

Many thanks for that. I knew something was wrong but didn't realise he had surgery. I really hope the guy recovers and the surgery works for him.
