I like that his shikona "family name" is Chikara - no beating around the bush.

You mean the given name? The usual announced shikona takes the place of the family name.

Kitanowaka now 3-1 at Ms11. Only just turned 20 and only has 1 career MK (a 3-4). Saitama Sakae grad who won both the major high school titles in his final year of high school, and has a nice 190cm/150kg body, with a diverse skillset. His weakness is probably that he can get moved back a little too easily by aggressive thrusters when he is looking for a belt grip.

Has gotten surprisingly little attention as a pro given his elite amateur credentials and good performances--I think he will make it to juryo this year.

Hanakaze scored 4-2 today over Sakura, who at 34 years old is also no spring chicken. Hanakaze is officially the first rikishi in 116 years to earn a KK after 50. Congratulations! Somebody clap for this champion. Truly a man of great determination and someone who loves the sport and lifestyle deeply.
