Rocks 1,809 Posted May 22, 2017 (edited) Very good match between Yamaguchi and Osunaarashi but Yamaguchi got him in the end. Osunaarashi is MK. Edited May 22, 2017 by Rocks
robnplunder 976 Posted May 22, 2017 Satoyama reminds me how hard it is to make a living doing professional sumo. He deserved every yen he made when he beat Takakenji today. Hmm, what's ailing Kotoyuki? Is he out for the entire basho?

Looks like he's out for the duration. I wonder why they kept it to so late to announce though?
Rocks 1,809 Posted May 22, 2017 Wow, who's the women in red? I bet @Kintamayama regrets not making it to this basho now.

Rocks 1,809 Posted May 22, 2017 Can't believe Daishomaru fell for that henka. He couldn't see how fake that matta was by ishiura?
fwuzzle23 66 Posted May 22, 2017 So I guess Kotoyuki's taking a double fusensho? He's still on the Day 10 torikumi. Don't they usually rearrange things in cases like this?

Ocha 0 Posted May 22, 2017 What is up with Kotoshigiku? He seems totally out of it this Basho, almost as if he lost the will to fight after failing to regain Ozeki status last Basho. I heard nothing about an injury that might be at the root of this, so it must be something else. If so, he should have probably gone Intai in January, while he was still Ozeki. Kuroyama 715 Posted May 22, 2017 Harumafuji seemed to have been injured beating Tamawashi, so if Hakuho is also slightly injured now that evens them up.

Kintamayama 45,571 Posted May 22, 2017 (edited) Kotoyuuki back tomorrow. Knee. "He can't bend it but he wishes to return tomorrow.." said Sadogatake Oyakata. I wonder what that kyujo was really about. He was in the building, for sure. Edited May 22, 2017 by Kintamayama
Doitsuyama 1,194 Posted May 22, 2017 22 hours ago, WAKATAKE said: He's also lasted longer than Miyabiyama, Dejima, and Baruto in terms of Ozeki longevity, and currently tied with Kotomitsuki also. Baruto is not the best comparison for Goeido to say the least. Baruto might have fewer basho at ozeki but he still has more wins at the rank despite misssing 25 bouts which says all. Miyabiyama also is in another ballpark, but on the southern side this time as he actually had more losses than wins at the rank. Kotomitsuki and Dejima are ok for the sake of comparison, and I would also add Musoyama (Tochiazuma on the other hand was far superior), see the stats here.
Morty 1,505 Posted May 22, 2017 Harumafuji looked like he hurt himself there, and Hak didn't look great at the end of his bout either. Could make things very interesting. By the way, Harumafuji threw Tamawashi right on top of Bad Wig Man, who looks like he has got himself a new piece for this basho. It is definitely shinier than previously. He had his other, other daughter with him today and she nearly had an aneurysm when Kisenosato lost, and she wasn't happy about Endo losing either. I prefer it when Bad Wig man stays home, because I get very distracted from the sumo on the days that he is there.

Right toe and ankle. Iced it up in the shitakubeya later and used a supporter later to support it.. "My opponent (Tamawashi) is very spirited so i was wondering if I should cushion his attack or blow him away.. I caused my own injury. How heavy is he anyway?? (172 kilos, sir...) " he said later. "It's like getting a finger jammed and it's happened to me lots of times, but a toe is very important. Still, I'm fine.." he added.
