Jyuunomori 226 Posted September 24, 2016 Goeido bloody did it, holy shit. Will he perhaps go 15-0? Goeido somehow became more succesful Ozeki than Kisenosato, I am proud of our Kadoban Ozeki.
taresu 38 Posted September 24, 2016 Well, congratz to Goeidou. Better Koto and Kise speed up their shit soon.
rhyen 1,846 Posted September 24, 2016 (edited) Poor Kisenosato, all the focus & preparation since Haru Basho and no lucky breaks at all. edit: Nothing to show for it. Edited September 24, 2016 by rhyen
Rocks 1,809 Posted September 24, 2016 Kisenosato made zero effort there.
fwuzzle23 66 Posted September 24, 2016 Another Japanese rikishi got a yusho and wasn't him Tsuna run is dead May now not even get double-digit wins Being Kisenosato at Aki '16 is suffering. also can the camera zoom into Goeido's eyes more, I couldn't quite see the individual cones
taresu 38 Posted September 24, 2016 At this point it just got sad watching Terunofuji.
d_golem 213 Posted September 24, 2016 I'd say 20% possibility Kise announcing his retirement immediately after the basho's over.
luispereira 383 Posted September 24, 2016 Been waiting for this for a whiilee. Congrats goeido! Also hoping for double digits for mitakeumi, any mita fans? Like this post to show yourselves! :D

mikawa 1,794 Posted September 24, 2016 (edited) From might not survive the kadoban to winning the yusho, congrats to Goeido! (He's certainly come a long way since this ) Edited September 24, 2016 by mikawa

To be honest, I am starting to think that this is somehow calculated effort by Sakamoto to gain experience and slowly adjust himself instead of rushing to Juryo and Makuuchi. At least we have pattern. Also, oh man Goeidos tears. Incredibly emotional, from Kadoban to Yusho. Probably gonna go Zensho-Yusho. I want him to get Jun-Yusho or Yusho next basho to become Yokozuna now. Wouldn't it be kind of poetic justice for him to become Yokozuna instead of anyone else. I'll call him Kadozuna then. ScottyJoyJrBebe 97 Posted September 24, 2016 Heartfelt Congrats to OZEKI Goeido. He must have heard me call him "Ozekiwake" all those times before, I am now eating my words with a fork and knife. Who would have guessed it, everyone's favorite Whipping Boy is now on a REAL tsuna run. Let the "Kadozuna" dixcussion begin!
Dapeng 236 Posted September 24, 2016 I don't think any one predicted Goeindou yusho but his demotion from ozeki On the other hand, Kise's failure is no surprise ... As to the "kadozunza", as ST Mike once said, anything can happen on these days' dohyo.

Morty 1,505 Posted September 24, 2016 When was the last time a Mongolian didn't either yusho or jun-yusho? If Endo wins tomorrow it is a Japanese one / two and I bet it has been a fair amount of time since that last happened. Given the younger Japanese up and comer's (Shodai, Mitakeumi, Kotoyuki, Chiyonokuni, Nishikigi, Endo and even Takayasu) all looking pretty good, are we seeing a resurgence of Japanese equality (I won't day dominance wile Hak and HF are still around) on the dohyo? I know all these guys have yet to ultimately prove themselves, but things are looking good for the Japanese (finally).
Benevolance 2,511 Posted September 24, 2016 Goeidou may have mathmatically won the yusho, but math is hardly an exact science; anything can still happen on Day 15! Go Kise!

Harry 67 Posted September 24, 2016 (edited) 14 hours ago, Asashosakari said: There was some info in the shindeshi thread at the time (click header for post): Thanks! That's really too bad then, as he is a fan. But having to drink 2 litres of water to even qualify for the weight was not a good sigh I guess. What chance does he have of becoming a yobidashi instead? 8 hours ago, rhyen said: This criticism could also be applied to Kotoshogiku, who has already won a Yusho earlier this year. Indeed, it is worse for the Geek who is not only inflexible but practically one dimensional with nothing other than the straight forward bumpety bump except when his opponent manages to get out of it and he has to scramble for something else. And yet, even though every single opponent knows he is going to be bumpety bumped, the Geek has a yusho while Kise does not. Kise knowing he is now the only Y/O without a yusho is going to eat at him even more, apply even more pressure and I fear (I know, I'm a broken record) that his performance will become even worse as a result. Goeido on the other hand, great show! Great to see the proud mama in the audience too. I really hope he can follow it up in Kyuushuu and Hatsubasho. His father passed away, right? I seem to remember that but can't find any reference to it. He has firmly outclassed his rival Tochiozan now who sadly seems to be sunsetting now. WAKATAKE 2,677 Posted September 24, 2016 All I can say is wow. Goeido certainly proved his critics wrong this basho, and I admit that I am one of those people. Congrats to him, now trying to get the zensho. If Goeido does indeed go zensho tomorrow, it would be the first zensho by a Japanese rikishi since Takanohana went zensho in Aki 1996 (20 YEARS!!). hamcornheinz 839 Posted September 24, 2016 (edited) I have a new word for ST if Goeido goes on a yokozuna run: fauxzekuna. Edited September 24, 2016 by hamcornheinz
WAKATAKE 2,677 Posted September 24, 2016 In case anybody's interested, yes Goeido will be on a tsuna run next basho, according to Nishonoseki chief judge and YDC Chairman Moriya. http://www.nikkansports.com/battle/sumo/news/1714951.html
