Ura, Aminishiki, Tochinoshin and Okinoumi lose, Endo, Takayasu, Kotoyuki, Goeido, Kise and Giku all win is probably all I really need to know but anything else of note? Yeah, the man most likely to Yusho, Harumafuji won to go to 8-1. The other Yokozuna, Kakuryu also won.
Rocks 1,810 Posted September 19, 2016 Okinoumi looked terrible against Kaisei. Just really tired.

On day 1 the results were in the file from the URL http://www.sumo.or.jp/ResultData/torikumi?day=9 http://www.sumo.or.jp/EnHonbashoMain/torikumi?day=9 Now the result part is empty and gets loaded when you open the page. (I have only day 1 downloaded, but I guess they changed today) Edit: without the results both my kensho and pics overview routines won't work Edited September 19, 2016 by Akinomaki
Rocks 1,810 Posted September 19, 2016 That's weird they would change the formatting half way through a basho. You'd think they would implement changes before the start.
Morty 1,521 Posted September 19, 2016 This basho I have been spending a lot of time watching the crowd who are watching the action. I've got a bit fascinated by it. The guy with the terrible wig has been there at least four days so far. He was there today, but sitting a bit further back than previously. Today there was a young bloke who was there with his grandma - she was loving it, he looked bored. Takayasu's wife was very happy when he won today against Teronofuji. Anyone know who the Shimpan is who has the real hipster haircut (buzzcut on the sides, long on top, beautifully coiffured)? And there is one nondescript guy, today sitting down on the bottom left of the screen, who seems to like to retell every bout with his hands to his mate sitting next to him. The sumo has been great too.
Jakusotsu 6,410 Posted September 19, 2016 Watching Kintamayama's splendid Day 9 digest, I thought huh? Ichinojo is back? Turned out to be Shodai...

ALAKTORN 346 Posted September 19, 2016 I’m not sure how Terunofuji lost that after the morozashi. Injuries suck.

The woman cutting in after Takayasu's victory is a Japanese-Filipina talento, Sayaka Akimoto. Also a childhood friend of his. There's a rumor going around that they are seeing each other. The two were seen recently at a konbini (Takayasu's hand gently placed on her shoulder) Shimpan with the haircut is Shikoroyama oyakata, once sekiwake Terao. Edit: oops I see that Akinomaki has posted Akimoto in Day 8 pics topic Edited September 19, 2016 by inhashi

Today, I saw the end of Okinoumi's yusho run. The best he could do is to finish 13-2 and that may earn him a playoff with someone like Harumafusi, Goeido. Endo is making a believer out of me. He looked good today. Kotoyuki & Mita are likely end up at upper MS and will face the big boys again. Shodai had 2nd chance at it and isn't doing any better. He isn't ready yet. Ura vs Toyohibiki on day 10. It does not look good for Ura.
dingo 1,490 Posted September 19, 2016 Mitakeumi is looking determined. He seems to be thriving on the crowd supporting him, not like a certain Ozeki... And boy, did Takayasu pull off a tough one. Although considering Terunofuji is hobbled by injuries it also shows his strength, considering how hard the win came for Takayasu.

He seems to do well at M5 or thereabout. Let's see what he does at M1 or M2. Shodai and Mitakeumi's Makuuchi career are mirroring each other's so far. They seem to do ok at mid Makuuchi level, and then flops at M1/M2 level.
