Kamitsuumi 408 Posted March 11, 2019 Tochiazuma might be the record holder, if you disregard that his first jonokuchi bout was actually on day 8 (he won out and ended at 4-0-3).

Yes, I make it 12 for Tochiazuma (with no mention of mae-zumo) - so Tomokaze can tie this ?record? next basho. Many thanks for doing the research!

Although we don't have those maezumo records available, based on his first ranking position it's fairly safe to say that Tochiazuma went 3-0 there.

Terarno 47 Posted March 8, 2020 Mitoryu ! Twelve consecutive bashos with a KK/MK alternance in the 6-9 to 9-6 range. And last 4 in a row with perfect 9-6/6-9/9-6/6-9. I predict a 9-6 for this Haru.

Gurowake 4,152 Posted January 19, 2023 (edited) All of Asanoyama's losses since his return have been on Day 11. He was scheduled and did win that day in the first match of his return. Edited January 19, 2023 by Gurowake

As it is often said rikishi are very superstitious, here’s a good reason to be one.

Kishinoyama 625 Posted September 2 This thread has not been used for awhile but I noticed a pattern while looking at the just released banzuke. In Jonidan, Asakawasumi has had an interesting start to his career. http://sumodb.sumogames.de/Rikishi.aspx?r=12908 Maybe a 5-2 this time to keep the pattern going?

Unfortunately, I think I jinxed the poor kid. He hit a gigantic wall after his first kachi-koshi. The pattern was already broken by day 5 of the tournament.
