Vikanohara 171 Posted March 20, 2014 Another pattern ending tomorrow ? -> if Toyohibiki wins Toyohibiki 5-4 Tamawashi
Jakusotsu 6,394 Posted March 20, 2014 Another pattern ending tomorrow ?Would be fatal for some of my games' picks...
Vikanohara 171 Posted March 20, 2014 And another one, in Juryo : Yoshiazuma 4-6 Tamaasuka Perhaps less clear. But imagine Yoshiazuma winning the next two. While this 5-0 between a former Komusubi & a former Sekiwake is truly amazing !

Vikanohara 171 Posted March 21, 2014 You can't say I didn't warn you ? Consider me the pattern breaker. :-P
Vikanohara 171 Posted May 15, 2014 About time to break another pattern ? (4x hatakikomi) Aoiyama 4-2 Chiyotairyu (2x oshidashi)
ALAKTORN 346 Posted May 16, 2014 About time to break another pattern ? (4x hatakikomi) Aoiyama 4-2 Chiyotairyu (2x oshidashi) Not broken!
Vikanohara 171 Posted May 16, 2014 (edited) Yoshikaze 3-3 Takarafuji -> Takarafuji's time ? Would be quite surprising if it lasts. Gagamaru 0-3 Sadanoumi While this one could use another kimarite, for instance sotogake. :-P Edited May 16, 2014 by Vikanohara
Vikanohara 171 Posted May 21, 2014 A rather unlucky pattern spotted :Kawanari last basho & Kawanari this bashoGood thing his avenger will be in Juryo next basho. :-P
Vikanohara 171 Posted July 14, 2014 Nagoya 2014 - some patterns after day 1broken (win-loss) & ongoing (kimarite) (Terao vs Goshi) alternating 3-2 pattern ongoing (Daido-Tenkaiho & Satoyama-Fujiazuma got broken)giant slaying 0-4 ongoing (Chiyoo vs Tokushinho) another 0-4 streak ongoing (Kotoyuki vs Seiro) of course also this 5-0 in Makuuchi (Chiyotairyu vs Jokoryu, first one not oshi though) and a 0-5 one at the bottom (how much is Kozakura currenlty weighing ?) Vikanohara 171 Posted July 18, 2014 Oh, what a nice pattern this is : Tamawashi 6 - 6 Yoshikaze
Vikanohara 171 Posted July 19, 2014 (edited) day 8 is another pattern day Another rather longeish pattern still unbroken : Shoterno 6 - 5 Fujiazuma This one should go to Kotoyuki this time : Sotairyu 5 - 2 KotoyukiA similar one, that should be won by Kyok : Arawashi 4 - 2 Kyokushuho Should be going to Myogiryu : Kaisei 2 - 3 MyogiryuHere it should be Ikioi losing : Aminishiki 2 - 2 IkioiAnd this one to the Georgian : Gagamaru 3 - 6 SadanofujiSimilar one, to be won by T'waka : Tochinowaka 3 - 6 OkinoumiAlso nice to behold : Toyohibiki 6 - 8 Takekaze How many do you see surviving ? :-) Edited July 19, 2014 by Vikanohara
Vikanohara 171 Posted July 20, 2014 day 8 aftermathFujiazuma, Kotoyuki, Kyokushuho, Aminishiki & Tochinowaka all managed to keep it going. Gagamaru clearly broke his ongoing pattern with Sadanofuji, same for Toyohibiki. Myogiryu slightly ruined his with Kaisei, though it's still some kind of pattern. :-) day 9 Daido 3 - 4 Chiyonokuni -> Chiyonokuni win to keep it alive Endo 2 - 3 Osunaarashi -> needs Endo to win for the pattern Takayasu 2 - 5 Myogiryu -> continues if Takayasu wins Takarafuji 0 - 5 Tokitenku -> well, just curious whether this will stand as well
torquato 1,075 Posted July 20, 2014 Honestly, who the f*** cares about patterns? :-DMmhhh... I like the idea of these 2 promising guys having a rivalry. Taking the win mutually would promote for that, I think. But currently I'm rather in favour of Osuna... He really impressed me this basho. Never expected 2 kinboshi. However, both of them really need any win now they can get. And I'd guess Endo will make it this time. Certainly an interesting matchup, which I expected to be scheduled on nakabi allready. Looking forward to seeing it. Sumo can be so exciting.BTW, we guys are reading this thread. ;-)
Vikanohara 171 Posted July 21, 2014 If by "we guys" you mean "just you & me" then you might be right. :-) No, it's actually okay with me if only just a few would read, after all, this is more like some kind of diary for me.
Vikanohara 171 Posted July 21, 2014 (edited) day 9 aftermath 3 out of 4 continued, as Takayasu lost day 10 Osunaarashi is here again in an other rivalry : Terunofuji 3 - 2 Osunaarashi Takayasu's back as well, needing to win : Chiyotairyu 2 - 2 Takayasu This one has to go to Myogiryu : Toyonoshima 2 - 2 MyogiryuThis to be won by Wakanosato ? Takarafuji 4 - 2 WakanosatoThis one ideally to Fujiazuma : Masunoyama 4 - 4 Fujiazuma A rather unusual one : Takanoiwa 1 - 5 ChiyonokuniAnd the most spectacular one : Shotenro 6- 5 Daido Edited July 21, 2014 by Vikanohara
Vikanohara 171 Posted September 27, 2014 (edited) Only the first alternating pattern of Aki 14 to mention, but this one really strikes me : Osunaarashi 3 - 3 Endo Wile these ones are having a similar one, dating from their Makushita-Juryo years : Sadanoumi 3 - 3 Kaisei Edited September 27, 2014 by Vikanohara
torquato 1,075 Posted September 28, 2014 Both patterns still alive. Vikanohara must be very pleased... :-D

Asashosakari 20,256 Posted September 28, 2014 Maybe some of these rikishi need to undergo a patternity test.
yorikiried by fate 2,038 Posted September 28, 2014 Where's the emoticon for "Bruhaha"? (Good thinking, though.) Hey, here's a pattern. What is it? Sumozumo 240 Posted September 29, 2014 (edited) Here's a different sort of pattern for you guys: Takekaze now has a 524-524 career record, with 46 no shows, for a total of 1046 bouts excluding no shows. Well that's not exactly right, what's up with this stat line on the db? 524-524-46/1046 (74 basho) Edited September 29, 2014 by Sumozumo
Doitsuyama 1,259 Posted September 29, 2014 Not all losses are made equal, a fusen loss is a "no show" and gets subtracted from the sum of wins and losses. Indeed, he does have two fusen losses as you can check quickly in the hoshitori, so he has 524+524-2=1046 appearances on the dohyo.
Gurowake 4,152 Posted September 29, 2014 Osunaarashi failed to maintain his record of not losing on Day 6; he had won his previous 10 matches on that day.
yorikiried by fate 2,038 Posted September 29, 2014 Hey, here's a pattern. What is it? Nobody wants to give it a try? It's actual the most impressive pattern in the history of sumo.
