Chartorenji 235 Posted July 20, 2023 Daieisho needs to win out. I guess slim odds they let him up with just 10 wins.

Chartorenji 235 Posted July 20, 2023 Hoshoryu is another in the win out camp, though a bit more confident only 32 will make it. Consistent Kachi-Koshi for like a year and a half now.

Leoben 121 Posted July 20, 2023 Hokutofuji used his head like a battering ram. Need to watch the replay but I think he nailed Hoshoryu in the face 2 or 3 times.

Koorifuu 886 Posted July 20, 2023 (edited) Two remarks on makushita: Glad to see Tochikamiyama bouncing back from his recent MKs. He's a bit like Tsukahara and Dewanoryu in that there's a clear sekitori inside of him but he just seems to fail to take the very last step, and then disappointment ensues for a few more months. That's a syndrome Roga took a few years to smash through, and now he's yet to hit the wall in the paid ranks. Kanzaki's white flag today explains why, recent career high notwithstanding, he's just performed to a substandard level these 6 or so months. This is disappointing as, for a long time, he seemed to be a clear sekitori based on performance. (I will admit that I thought about writing that here a few days ago, but got worried I'd look like a buffoon if it was down to his competition being weaker, even if it didn't look like that to me.) Akinomaki 39,805 Posted July 20, 2023 Still 3 days left and the two at the top not known for consistency: an 11-4 yusho is still quite likely
Fashiritētā 169 Posted July 20, 2023 11-4 with a 4 way playoff. Ive totally miss read this Basho, just throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks.

Yarimotsu 522 Posted July 20, 2023 Wakatakamoto pulled off a nice utchari today, must have learned it from his older younger brother. Terutsuyoshi gets to feel what it's like to KK once again, after more than a year on the slump. Hakuoho definitely hurt his shoulder again when he landed on it - I speculate it might have been a dislocation, as he didn't move it afterwards at all (but it could be worse?). Kotoeko showed the world the classic method of felling a giant. Hokuseiho seems all too willing to get muscled around at this stage.
