"Always hatakikomi" is too predictable of an approach to not be punished by opponents at some point.

Which is exactly what Asashosakari was saying about Tomokaze fairly recently, to the effect that he would be surprised if Tomokaze became a joi mainstay as everyone was expecting.

Wow, Hokutofuji almost had it!

That was a good match.  I was rooting for Hokutofuji but the rookie was simply dang good.  He is tied for the lead going into day 15 on his 4th basho.  Wow!  Just wow!

That ending was very reminiscent of one of Hakuho's wins over Hokutofuji. Both great counters from very vulnerable spots with Hokuto charging at them.

Being able to pull out wins in those situations is one of the signs of an excellent rikishi.

Back to the drawing board, I guess. Being freakishly tall and leaning on people until they're worn down only gets you so far.

Watching Hokuseiho is more frustrating than watching Ichinojo.

I wish Oho would stop retreating so much - this basho it's like he's doing an Aoiyama impression. He's powerful and can hold his own or better with most on the belt or when aggressively thrusting. Too many times he's just started backpeddling if his initial attack doesn't work immediately.

Actually, young Ichinojo took Makuuchi by storm. 13-2 JY and a Sekiwake promotion - Hokuseiho can only dream of such success.

O'K, back to normal - Nishikigi no longer good.

Clearly he's still a good rikishi, better then before. Just not as good as the hot streak he started the Basho with.

He probably caught a genie and wished to become good against sunyaku, but forgot about maegashira.

Hokuseiho with his first makekoshi in 10 basho at his highest ever rank and everyone's writing him off.

Kinbozan had 0 MK in his career till recently, and everybody has forgotten about him already.

This is a "what have you done for me lately?" world.

Puzzling henka by Wakamotoharu. Even if he wins with it, it does nothing positive for his Ozeki promotion chances.

On the other hand, if Hoshoryu wins tomorrow it will be difficult to deny him his well-deserved promotion.

Now they only have to pair Hoshoryu with Hakuoho to ensure a 12 - 3 yusho. Otherwise the 11-4 playoff chance remains.

Don't forget Hokutofuji. He is in 11-3 group too.

Let's get the Kotonowaka and Asanoyama hype going too - everyone's on an ozeki run!

Funnily enough, the observation regarding Shishi and chaos seems to also strike me regarding Ōhō. For someone with that much interest, he doesn't appear to really have any kind of signature in his sumo other than being generally aggressive.
