What happened to 2024?

I think Akinomaki means (this year) is in Dolphins, and so is next year, but in 2025 it'll be somewhere else.

Exactly, in detail in another thread. The schedule for 2025 was published recently.

Aichi now calls for contractors to hand in their plans for the construction of the new gymnasium - whatever name it will get, hopefully with flawless air conditioning.

The images of how the new hall should look when it is planned to open just in time for the 2025 Nagoya basho: room for up to 15 000 spectators, for sumo 11 000.

The basho schedule for 2025 was released, with the new facility as (planned) location, called the Aichi International Arena https://www.sumo.or.jp/Admission/schedule/

I prefer pia over lawson. Is this for this tournament only or in general?

I guess only for Nagoya, which has a special promoter. Sumo.pia has no recent page at all for Nagoya, the page is still for Nagoya 2020, maybe this other site was there the last 2 years as well and I haven't noticed.

Ticket Pia is listed under ticket opportunities https://sumo.or.jp/Admission/ticket/Jul/handling/618/: a few masu seat tickets left: https://t.pia.jp/pia/event/event.do?eventBundleCd=b2343841

The gomen-fuda was put in place today, for a normal Nagoya basho without restrictions, after 4 years again. (the 4 is all over the place, the unlucky number of death, now the number of resurrection)

nobori for the basho, as usually produced by a company in Gifu - nobori for rikishi have no black paint on it, because that reminds of kuroboshi ●

Dohyo matsuri today - Inosuke seemed really weak at first, his face looked like the after-effect of a stroke, left half slightly paralysed, voice unstable, but in the energetic part in the end he sounded good again

- Though officially abolished, as Corona measures without public and without rikishi - and the rikishi do sumo with kids now all the time and mingle with the locals, without a mask, here they just would sit in a separate group out of contact with others. We can see what officially abolished in the NSK means in how kabu selling is handled, and the amount of reason in banzuke making.

About 50 related people were there, 20 paying fan club members were invited.

That didn't work out too well for Kirishima.

Kind of strange that Kirishima is still on day 2's torikumi at this time.

Abema has given Wakanohana an upgrade - now his instant bout reviews can make use of an assistant in mawashi and a mock dohyo (not sure who the helper is, hair is short so perhaps an ex-rikishi).

They had this in the past already, then came Covid and the feature got canned. Looks similar to the guy they had before.

I wonder how many f-words are flying through Asanoyama's mind right now.

Yes, Akatsu is back as Waka's assistant

Hoshoryu might have gotten away with his hand touching down going unoticed. Looked like a little dirt was flying. But alas, not mono-ii, and a Day 1 win for Asashoryu's nephew,

You will notice, they changed it by now. I think it's not an easy feat to rewrite it, especially when it's the second to top guy to drop out. Creates some trickle-down-effect for all the other bouts. Another question is, if they have to herd the whole committee back in, or if the redo is done by some kind of SBAT (Special Banzuke and Torikumi).

As much as i hate it to see him out, the chances for a triple-ozeki-promotion just went up and i don't think Terunofuji will do the whole basho. Maybe he's out before he can fight the aspirants.
