I might be wrong, because I've only checked r/sumo a couple times in the last few years, but I was surprised to see it there, and it definitely can explain the increase in numbers. Indeed. Andonishiki 170 Posted August 20, 2019 Tamawashi as Sekiwake 5-10 down to M4 ?? he recently won a tourney... i just cant imagine such a steep drop. M2w at worst !

And where's Tomokaze? disagree... Washi was a Sekiwake, not just a simple maega. that should make up for the difference of two wins tomokaze, our friendly wind has be blown to M4. which his high enough for him... but he will likely face all the big guns anyway ...who said banzuke making has anything in common with logic? M2w at worst ! Yes, he won a yusho and then went 5-10 2 out of the next 3. In the past 20 years 5-10 from that rank has only been held to M2 twice and I suspect that is only because there was a dearth of positive records at the top. M3 is normal. M4 has happened twice too, probably for the opposite reason of M2 which is the case this basho I think. At best he will be M3.

Ganzohnesushi 537 Posted August 25, 2019 M4e confirmed for Tamawashi Glad I put him there. 57 points in total. Guess this is another 9-6/10-5 finish to stay out of the “green“ ranks. Ganzohnesushi

Asapedroryu 239 Posted August 25, 2019 57 Points here. In the other 14 times i've played the maximum I had was 42, so this seems to be an easy one.
Tsuchinoninjin 1,281 Posted August 25, 2019 66 maybe. My 'mistake' of demoting Kotoshogiku to M7 seemed correct after all.

Kintamayama 45,974 Posted August 25, 2019 Results- The winner, his 9th yusho, Asashosakari.. He beat Pandaazuma with a razor-thin tiebreaker. 39-38 in correct guesses, both with 74 points, followed by Chishafuwaku with 73 points. Asashosakari got only three guesses completely wrong and Pandaazuma is at the top of the non-Banzuke.. Milestones: Flohru- 90th basho, the only milestone this basho. OTOH, we had no less than 14 new players, thanks to me joining reddit and inviting the sumo fans there to enter. 3 got their kachikoshi. Thanks for playing, thanks to Doitsuyama and Andoreasu for actually doing the heavy lifting.. And now- on with the ba-show!! If you want to see how you did, go hither.. 3

fwuzzle23 66 Posted August 25, 2019 52 points, would have been 60 but I accidentally labeled Chiyotairyu as 7-8 on my prediction sheet instead of 8-7 so he ended up being off two ranks and the Ryuden-Shimanoumi-Myogiryu-Kotoshogiku sequence behind him was half a rank too high. Entirely preventable on my part but I didn't realize it until after the submission deadline...
Pandaazuma 1,310 Posted August 25, 2019 Aaaarrrggghhhhh!! Third yusho TB and third loss. But there is no shame in losing to Pierre, the banzuke king. Well done, sir. I got Shimanoumi/Ryuden along with Tsurugisho/Nishikigi wrong. And Enho/Onosho switched east and west. As for the ranking, I hadn't looked in detail, so I had assumed 6 was the maximum possible score for some reason. Must look at it more closely. What is the highest score ever? Thanks for the game!
