Naganoyama 6,024 Posted July 6, 2013 (edited) I was already quite excited before this, but now I don't know how I'm going to make it until tomorrow. I can't wait! I can't wait! I can't wait! Edit: and I have now watched this movie three times. Edited July 6, 2013 by Naganoyama

Bugman 384 Posted July 7, 2013 When i see Aminishiki all taped up like that i think of what he could do if he had a brand new body, all those years of experience but with a new start, thank you very much Kintamayama! :)
Naganoyama 6,024 Posted July 7, 2013 Kisenosato's body with Harumafuji's speed, Kakuryu's brains and Aminishiki's wit/sang-froid. Would make a reasonable opponent for Hahuho.
Akinomaki 41,731 Posted July 7, 2013 Those two lower division bouts I found quite entertaining, it always feels good when the small guy wins. Dewanojo vs Aragyoshi o (okurinage) Azumasato vs Ohara o (shitatenage)
aderechelsea 125 Posted July 7, 2013 (edited) this one was quite good too. Kaminoyama vs Ikeru i noticed it not only for the rare ipponzeoi kimarite but also because i had chosen Kaminoyama over Ikeru in the PTYW game ... (Sigh...) Blue_Wolf 24 Posted July 7, 2013 Did Miyogiryu get robbed today? I don't see no hair pulling. Btw since he's a beter wrestler than Goeido he might become ozeki sooner then later.
ALAKTORN 346 Posted July 8, 2013 Jason’s commentary (from NHK footage) said that it looked like he was pulling, but he wasn’t totally sure. Wish he had uploaded those replays.
Yubinhaad 11,954 Posted July 8, 2013 Thanks for the coverage, Kintamayama! (Sign of approval...) Satonofuji was also the yumitori-shiki performer in the Natsu basho, so maybe the alternating with Shoho is over, or maybe they just wanted to switch it around so Shoho could do the Kokugikan. I guess we'll find that out in two months. Did Miyogiryu get robbed today? I don't see no hair pulling. Btw since he's a beter wrestler than Goeido he might become ozeki sooner then later. Jasons commentary (from NHK footage) said that it looked like he was pulling, but he wasnt totally sure. Jakusotsu 6,385 Posted July 8, 2013 In the majority of cases these hair pulling calls are just silly. As if Myogiryu hadn't won if Chiyotairyu was bald...
Akinomaki 41,731 Posted July 8, 2013 Plenty of replay angles, judge for yourselves. They all look like his hand just went through the hair, without firmly closing his fist and really pulling.

For the most part yes, but at around 43 it seems like he grabs it somehow? Anyways, I greaty appreciate threads like these. Thanks for all the effort! Akinomaki 41,731 Posted July 8, 2013 My favorite lower division bouts today was Onami vs Ishiura o shitatehineri I don't expect him to win all this basho, but a good 5-2 kachi-koshi for Ishiura and the makushita debut next time.
Bugman 384 Posted July 8, 2013 I like how Harumafuji was helping Takekaze to stay upright only a nanosecond after he had won the bout, or maybe even a nanosecond before. :) His reflexes and awareness are the best.
Benevolance 2,534 Posted July 8, 2013 I always love Chiyotairyu's post-bout interviews. A few times he's had reversals go in his favour, and is response is usually, "Well, that was lucky, I was totally losing!"

Johnofuji 232 Posted July 10, 2013 Lots of grunting to be heard today. New microphones? Actually I noticed that too and was wondering if I have just been missing it through roar of the crowd. The use of Kiai is very important in other martial arts and can be very intimidating. Obviously when using that much explosive energy a sumotori cannot help but let out the odd grunt but I'm not sure if its deliberate like I was taught in judo. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kiai Sumo has its own set of grunts.Thankfully they are not the same as Miss Piggy's kiai. I know some sumotori fake their grunts at training when they know the oyakata is still within earshot. I'm a bit sad that the great Araibira missed today's video of my mate Wolverine Ishiura. Having trained with him and knowing what a brilliant technician he is I believe he will set some records if he keeps fighting the way he is. I am surprised at how quickly he bulked up but he still doesn't need to use fully utilise his size with his cool calm trickery.
