Naganoyama 5,949 Posted January 19, 2006 In any case, Asashouryuu will NOT get the yusho. I stake all of what's left of my credibiltiy on this. That is, i gain your credibility, if Asa wins ? What do i have to offer myself ? No, I just lose all my credibility and go home. My credibility, once it leaves me, disappears into thin air. How do you know? Has it happened before? aderechelsea 125 Posted January 19, 2006 back to Hakuho a bit .... just watched the bouts again on Dale's site and i have to comment again on the Yokozuna match. Hakuho had amazing calmness in his match and knew exactly what he wanted to do after the tachi-ai didn't go exactly as he planned. he just took a step back in order to pull that kotenage and did not use it while withdrawing. Trully amazing stuff. very yokozuna-like sumo from the white phoenix

Trully amazing stuff.very yokozuna-like sumo from the white phoenix However, he looked very nervous indeed before stepping up... word has it that he has been doing a lot of meditation recently. I read one report that he and a stablemate had visited a Zen temple for some serious zazen just before this basho. Whatever the reason, he does seem very calm and determined and yes, very Yokozuna-like. Give him a year, tops. I am hoping for a few years of Asa-Koto-Haku 3-way yokozuna rivalry - it's been a while...
Coo-cook 0 Posted January 20, 2006 very yokozuna-like sumo from the white phoenix Just watched Dale's video. Ouch. Very Kaio-like sumo I would say. Hopefully Asa's arm is OK. Nobody can resist this kind of twist if you don't want get your elbow broken. (Asa had to give up). Of course, it's not broken or seriously damaged. But, everybody knows how it feels after such a twist...very numb, heavy and "electricuted".... Go Asa ...show them all (again) that you are the man.... Guest bnona Posted January 20, 2006 Hakuho is real threat in future. He finally showed me that he is serios about Yokozuna run.
Itchygao 0 Posted January 20, 2006 Wow. Never seen the yokozuna thrown like that. Thought hakuho was going to take his arm off. I could NOT believe the strength Hakuho has gained in the last year. I know he's packed on weight. Obviously, he has put on almost exclusively muscle. (Dohyo-iri...) Itchygao

Trully amazing stuff.very yokozuna-like sumo from the white phoenix Do you suppose his demeanor is because his father was such a big champion back home? Sometimes, I wonder if he doesn't feel a lot of pressure to uphold the family honor, etc. We hear about star athletes son's having problems all the time. Hakuho sure doesn't appear to have any problems like that. I just wonder if he gets to enjoy his super acomplishments, or at home they are just "what is expected of him." Oimeru 0 Posted January 20, 2006 (Clapping wildly...) No offense, Asa-fans...but: hah! Finally some competition for the almighty Yokozuna! Although I wouldn't be shocked if he still takes the Yusho.
Blue_Wolf 24 Posted January 20, 2006 Edit: oh by the way, Kintamayama, who do you think will give Azuma the third loss? 14-1, no more losses, sir. Do you know something, we don't know? (Clapping wildly...)
Kintamayama 45,543 Posted January 20, 2006 (edited) Edit: oh by the way, Kintamayama, who do you think will give Azuma the third loss? 14-1, no more losses, sir. Do you know something, we don't know? (Chucking salt...) I'm pretty sure Asashouryuu injured his arm in his bout against Iwakiyama. I doubt he would lose to Ama or Hakuhou if he were 100%, at least not the way he lost.. He can't go kyujo with the mess at the top, so he'll soldier on. I wouldn't be surprised if he finished 10-5. As for Tochiazuma, he is looking very good, and I just feel he'll win the rest of his bouts. I'm just guessing, though. SonofCyrus 0 Posted January 20, 2006 (edited) It was hard to see, but Asa had his right arm wrapped up against Ama. I had to replay Dale's video a couple of times to see it but it was there. Edited January 20, 2006 by SonofCyrus
ilovesumo 12 Posted January 20, 2006 (edited) Let's (Praying...) for a Hakuho-Tochiazuma ketteisen... So DO IT Hokutoriki! (Crazy, I cheer for Hoku... (Sigh...) ) my god........the day Hakuho will win his first Yusho might be this 日曜日 (Jumping in ecstasy...) Ahhm, a question. What, if Asa is really injured? Could Tochiazuma win the Yusho by fusensho on senshuraku? NO...or? Edited January 20, 2006 by ilovesumo
AsaMoe 0 Posted January 20, 2006 I'm just guessing, though. After you will keep your credibility on the Not-Asashoryu Yusho, i start to believe, that you are right in all other points too. Could you please pass me your thougts for Haru, that i could make my game entries ?
Bishonohana 0 Posted January 20, 2006 Hakuho is real threat in future. He finally showed me that he is serios about Yokozuna run. How about gving him a Ozeki run first, then we can talk about the Yokozuna run... (Jumping in ecstasy...)
Ikkakujuu 0 Posted January 20, 2006 I don't know why but my gut tells me that Kotooshu will dump the yusho dream of Hakuho. Hakuho desperately needs to proove that he is better than him and this in my opinion will handicap him in their bout. My bet is Tochiazuma yusho with 13-2 (he will lose the last meaningles bout to Asa) Hakuho, Kotooshu, Tokitsuumi and Hokutoriki with 12-

Asojima 2,874 Posted January 21, 2006 It's always seemed clear to me he was more talented than Kotooshu, but just suffered from an unfortunate middle of last year. And this basho he's looked far more like the true shin-ozeki than the Bulgarian... Osh has been having a surprisingly good basho for a shin-ozeki. There is usually a post-promotion letdown. Hakuho has the physical ability for ozeki, but I want to see his mental attitude tested more. He is still my choice for perennial sekiwake. (Showing respect...) Kintamayama 45,543 Posted January 22, 2006 My guess- no playoff - Tochiazuma yusho. In any case, Asashouryuu will NOT get the yusho. I stake all of what's left of my credibiltiy on this. Ohh... just remembered this. Credibility intact. All those standing around waiting to see it dissipitate may sit down for now.
