Onosho Intai

Lots of promise after getting KK in his Komusubi debut at just 21 years old, but never been able to fulfill. Seven years later his body takes its toll apparently.

Never seemed quite the same after his knee injury, and the decline/retirement of the old Onomatsu oyakata.

He was one of this next big things when I first started watching, getting three consecutive 10-5s from his Makuuchi debut.

Every year, like clockwork,  when Onosho climbed the dohyo during the broadcast, my 90-year-old Japanese great-aunt-in-law would ask me: "How do you read his name?"

Feels like injuries robbed him of a better career than he ultimately had.

One of the Tadpoles (along with Mitakeumi and Takakeisho).  How the mighty have fallen (apparently, they eventually wobble and do fall down).

It's tougher for the little guys.

Doesn't look like it's been mentioned that he plans to join a skin care company post-sumo, as he has dealt with skin issues in the past, and has a goal of eventually striking out on his own in business.

Yesterday Onosho had an intai/career appreciation party home in Nakadomari town, with about 270 supporters

the town mayor and the Sugaru sumo jinku club performed an Onoshato support jinku

As planned he joins the skin-care company yokohama-bayu start of April - his new dohyo - he has a wife and 3 kids to support. He used this skin-care products while active

A longer recent interview about a sake drinking battle with Kisenosato, where both together drank 7 1.8l bottles. Rikishi generally all are heavy drinkers - he drank recklessly, and also the yokozuna's strength was staggering. o

Tales from drinking parties at Nishonoseki-beya are even more unsurprising than they seemed.

I hope those bottles didn't end up in unbecoming places...

I wonder how Onosho felt at his retirement party when they started singing songs for Onosato - I get that Onosato is popular, but that seems a bit much (Singingdrunk...)(Laughing...)

Sake is very light...

Sake has 15 - 20 % ABV, which is a bit more than wine. I wouldn't call that "very" light... (Drippingsweat...)
7 x 1,8 l is a huge amount to me (Blinking...)

I used to be regularly last one on my feet at parties. I think I could've maybe managed one bottle, but I've been properly arseholed and thoroughly regretting it the next day.

6.3l of that stuff (assuming they managed half each) is, frankly, beyond belief.
