Ain't no way that Asanoyama is going to get the yusho now.  But things tend to happen exactly opposite of what I say in this forum.  So, there.

Jokuryu resorting to the henka and still losing. 2-5. It will be at least 2 more bsho for him to get back to juryo now.

Takanofuji wins the makushita yusho!

That's the most "creative" torikumi making ever as far as I can remember. Even the final senshuraku pairings aren't set in stone yet.

Ichiyamamoto and Akiseyama have already exhausted all of my attention span for today.

What a way to start juryo matches!   Akiseyama vs Ichiyamamoto was a marathon.   We just may see Ichiyamamoto in juryo in July.

Ok, something is up with Takageji, Takanofuji twins.  They are combined 18-1 in this basho.   They must have found a wonder drug or something.

Anyone know how long was that match?

How cool would it have been if Takakeisho didn't get injured and won the yusho, Takagenji the juryo yusho and Takanofuji the makushita one ?

And all because of their release from Takanohana's shackles. (Neener,neener...)

Shimanoumi gets his kachikoshi. That’s a satisfying makuuchi debut for him.

Enho doesn’t look like he’ll be fit for another shot at his kachikoshi tomorrow. The reversal was the right call – just – but I feel for him. It was one of those bouts nobody really lost.

Shimanoumi has potential, very impressive 3 bashos so far.

I agree Enho is done for the basho.  But at 7-8 in the worst case scenario, he will stay in makuuchi.   He ran into solid Meisei who is at his career best.  I look forward to Meisei & Shimanoumi's next basho.

Tochinoshin escapes! That was close. For a moment I thought we were seeing a repeat of yesterday.

No, wait ... mono-ii?

It seems okay to me, though the replay wasn't the clearest. You have to love the drama though.

I thought maybe mage for a moment, but Tochi's hand was across the back of the neck. I think.

Of the rikishi at their career best rank:

  1. Tomokaze saved MK, and KK streak.  He has a chance to go 7-7 against Chiyoshoma.
  2. Shimanoumi got his KK.  Look forward to how well he does in July.
  3. Enho is done.  He ran into Meisei who is at his career best.  To make it worse, Enho appears to be seriously injured.  Meisei has an outside chance at Komusubi spot.
  4. Daishoho got his KK.

This is a looooooong chat.

Definitely no heal out. That's clear. So it must be a possible hansoku they're discussing.

Longest ever mono-ii. I don't think Toshinoshin's heel touched but I have a bad feeling about this outcome.

I can't imagine how badly Onomatsu shimpan will butcher the explanation...
