Takakeisho really needs to learn how to finish people off. He beat up Mitakeumi there with perhaps four or five hard harite to the face and had him right on the tawara ... but still lost.

He charges forward so hard that he seems to lose balance when he couldn't finish his opponent.   Mitakeumi's ballet lessons paid dividend 

Takayasu yusho?

Endo just fell apart against Hakuho.

Kise made Chiyokuni look good but still managed a win.   I like Mitakeumi's chance against Kise.   Ditto for Takayasu's.

Kuni really needs to work on his feet. That's the second time this basho he squandered a win by stepping out prematurely. Kise's contract with Lady Luck is still intact.

Hakuho hasn’t looked that special. He lucked out getting a hopeless Endo today, escaped against Takakeisho when he had his back turned on the bales and needed a sashichigae to be given the win against Shoudai. A fit, healthy and maturing Yutakayama could cause him some problems.

Fair enough. I read it as like “he’ll need all the luck he can get because Hakuho is going to tear him apart” sort of thing.

Looked like it to me.  She must be well connected, since my Japanese friends complain that tickets these days are very, very difficult to obtain (let alone for masu-seki ones).  But later in the broadcast, they panned through the balcony, and I got the impression there were some fairly empty sections up there during the Makuuchi bouts.

That was temendous balance and footwork at the edge there from Mitakeumi, especially considering what he had to go through during the bout

My wife’s friend, knowing I’m into sumo, sent me a clip her coworker had posted (Kyokutaisei’s bout when got injured) and he was sitting about 10m from the ring, maybe 6 or 7 rows back. No idea how he got those tickets but I was pretty jealous!

Celebs at the KKan today: USA Open winner Naomi Osaka and Steven Seagal who met with Hakuhou later, and is married to a Mongolian woman and also speaks Japanese quite well.

Wow...some real brawling today, the boys bringing it on !! Mitakiumi - Takakeisho was brutal. The tachia of Tochinozan Asonoyama popped the crowd and Tochinozan was not playing...nice win. Kisenosato's footwork was fantastic and saved his ass.  Best day of the basho so far IMO.

I was about to click on "like", but then I realised I would be thanking you for making me jealous!  LOL

Anyone out there know how much mark up there is on tickets obtained through the ochaya, and whether they will even sell to people who aren't regulars or who don't have a direct connection with them?
