I was afraid that he might want to go for a henka there. Thankfully he didn't and won anyway!

Am I the only one noticing how different Tochinoshins body looks? He has grown two extra necks in the last 3 months. He has to be using steroids. I'm not against it, but it seems painfully obvious.

He does look more muscular than I remember him to be ... and I am against anyone using steroid or similar substance.     For now, I will give him the benefit of doubt and believe his yusho to be legit.

I think Mitakeumi yesterday by mentioning his support for Tochinoshin's yusho, also  expressed that he'd like to bear the flag at the yusho parade.

That would be neat and all but would he be allowed to being higher ranking?  Or does that have nothing to do with it?

Unbelievable! I am very happy for him as he is my favourite foreigner rikishi.

Tochinoshin must have been hitting the gym like a lunatic to gain this much strength. He probably decided he needed to bulk up his upper body to compensate that he only has one knee.

13 win record is a very respectable record as well, hope he will get 14-1 though. Happy that it is not some 12-3 nonsense.

Edit: Congratulations to Ryuden for getting the Kanto-sho!

Goeido 2.0 shows up and dominates Mitakeumi, no kadoban this time.

Great match between Kakuryu and Takayasu, 4 straight L’s for Kak

What a thrilling match between Kakuryu and Takayasu! He's finishing off strong, especially if he wins against Mitakeumi tomorrow.

If Taka gets double digit wins at both Haru and Natsu, will the YDC consider him?

Not likely unless one is an outright yusho

Tochinoshin may just be awarded Shukun-sho at this rate. He beat the biggest threat to his Yusho (Takayasu).

Tochinoshin will most likely also be awarded Gino-sho, if they do not just give him Kanto-sho (one of them has been snatched by Ryuden).

Kakuryuu's record is not looking so pretty anymore. He must be having so much pressure on his shoulders right now.

Not without a yusho. Even Kisenosato had to win.

edit: also looking back at his last couple years, Takayasu does not have Kisenosato's "lifetime achievement award" numbers. If Takayasu finishes with the runner-up, then he'll be on a sort of quiet mini-yokozuna run, but he'd need another runner-up and a yusho. (or two yusho if he just wants to make it easy on them)

Agreed. Even if he gets to 12 wins tomorrow, that will contribute to a nice three-basho run at best. It's not really yusho-equivalent considering this yusho is over by Day 14 (and to a maegashira no less), so tsunatori for March will be out of the question.
