Oh my naivety, both my x's blown out the water on day 1 and 2! Lesson learned, m6w Vs m7e and m11w Vs m10e likely to happen really early, my thinking was Ichinojo would win a few early on whilst Aoiyama likely to have a bad start so they may have ended up not facing each other. Any 'rules' that say (for example) m10e must face m10w at some point in a Basho? or is it ever possible for them not to be matched? (other than same beya)

There is no rule that says they have to be matched, but it is unusual for mid-lower makuuchi rikishi who are within 1 or 2 ranks of each other not to meet during week one.  Results oriented  matching usually starts on days 7 or 8.
