As a joke Asahisho said he wants to sprinkle soy sauce instead of salt before bouts now.
Depending on his future success (first he must make it back to makuuchi) CM contracts and kensho from Kikkoman may follow.

Hakuho will get a keshō-mawashi set from the Nishiarai-daishi temple, each at least 10 million Yen worth, with a design by Japanese painter Toshio Matsuo (87). The one for the yokozuna with the sun, for tachi-mochi and tsuyu-harai with peony flowers like on the temple grounds. On that grounds in Tokyo, Adachi-ku on the 20^th the set will presented, a dohyo-iri with it there is in October.

Peonies are a specialty of the painter, for whom it is seen as the first keshō-mawashi design.

The temple has a connection to the heya since 1958, when yokozuna Yoshibayama revived Miyagino-beya. Since 2005 Hakuho does there bean throwing at setsubun.

Hey, that's high art. The painter got the Order of Cultural Merit in 2012.

The plan for the work started in 2009 and it took 4 years to finish.

Though I think one can see that the sun isn't his specialty.

Reminds me of some ornamental pictures I saw on the walls of my greatgrandparents when I was a child. Mind you, they have mosdef had put them on their wall at a time when anything that could have been burned for heating would have been burned for heating.

I find some Japanese art to be strange, my mind keeps telling me it's too simple yet there's something that i find very pleasing, even exciting about those kesho mawashi, i like all three but my favourite one is on our left.

Edit* I just did a money conversion online and ten million Yen came to £65.000, i then did it again and it came to £65.000!!!

Hakuho, the temple's chief abbot and Miyagino-oyakata with the set.
It is a hand woven silk tapestry of the finest quality – Hakata-ori/tsuzure-ori style (Daily reports that there is only one active) – 4 years. The actual amount it had cost isn't made public – Daily calls the work to be in the rank of a “national treasure”.

I always try to look at the yokozuna's kesho-mawashi set as a whole, to get the best impression. I like this set, with the flowers slightly leaning towards the sun, i.e. the yokozuna.

I would also think the keshomawashi probably have a lot of fine detail work in the woven silk we likely can't see in photos of that size.

Toyonoshima put the photo of a (not new, but …) keshō-mawashi on his blog, designed by Takashi Yanase the creator of Anpan-man (picture book/manga/anime for small kids – I liked it from the start on TV in Oct. 1988, just my level at the time), who died on the 13^th at the age of 94. He like Toyonoshima was from Kochi pref.

Endo will get a Gundam style keshō-mawashi from the major construction machinery company Hitachi-kenki, which has a connection to a construction company in Endo's hometown where his father works.

He will get it on the 15^th at the Hitachi-kenki head office. Later CM appearance possible.

That whale on the left is my favourite Kesho-mawashi, silly as it sounds i saw Toyonoshima in it and decided i'd support this guy (whom i had never heard of at the time.) He's still one of my favourite rikishi.
