Shibouyama 1 Posted March 22, 2006 Probably not a hot topic, but just saw the Chiyotaikai v.s. Dejima match on Banzuke.com and Chiyo gave Dejima an extremely late, extremely obvious extra shove off the dohyo. Anybody know of a reason for this? maybe concerning some pre-bout stalling tactics or some bad blood in their history? It was even more blatant, though less high-powered, than Asa's usual late shove-outs. (Sign of disapproval)

Bishonohana 0 Posted March 22, 2006 It looked like Dejima pulled a half henka (it wasn't a full blown henka) and didn't come straight forward, so Chiyo was pissed, there for, the extra shove after Dejima was already out of the Dohyo. >(Yusho winner...) As if Chiyo was saying "don't pull that crap with me!!" :-)

Guest Kyuzo Posted March 22, 2006 With Chiyo fighting to stay an Ozeki and facing a post-Dejima schedule that is a serious challenge, I think it pissed him off that Dejima tried a henka. That was my impression. It seems terribly disrespectful, in my eyes, to try and get the Sucker Punch of the Sumo World against a Kadoban Ozeki. I'd have been pissed off, too, if I were in Chiyotaikai's position. --Kyuzo
SonofCyrus 0 Posted March 22, 2006 It also looked like Chiyo gave him a stare down too. He looked pretty mad.
aderechelsea 125 Posted March 22, 2006 as if Chiyo has the right to feel angry about henkas .... :-) Dejima didn't seem to care though, so i won't care either.
Jakusotsu 6,052 Posted March 22, 2006 Dejima's inashi wasn't much of a henka at all, at least nothing to get angry about. I guess Taikai was much more annoyed by Dejima's clinging to his mage.
obinishiki 0 Posted March 22, 2006 Pardon my french but Taikai is a pussy. He himself henka`d Kaio to end the winning-streak, a few (2?) bashos ago.
yamaneko 2 Posted March 22, 2006 I saw a lot of extra shoves yesterday. Kaio, kisenosato, etc. etc.

Zenjimoto 40 Posted March 22, 2006 I saw a lot of extra shoves yesterday. Kaio, kisenosato, etc. etc. Yes, I noticed Kaio's too. I am just glad that the conspiracy against Mongolian wrestlers (especially Asashoryu) (You are going off-topic...) and the great hate-tour against Ama :-S lose wind in their sails with these latest horrible infractions by Japanese rikishi! :-( Cheers! Kintamayama 45,563 Posted March 22, 2006 (edited) What's the big deal?? It happens all the time, it has a name(dame-oshi) and it's part of the game. Jonosuke 28 Posted March 23, 2006 Sorry to bring back NHK's Japanese broadcast again but sometimes Kitanofuji just kills me. After the bout while Chiyotaikai was waiting to give a chikara-mizu, Kitanofuji commented Chiyotaikai really looked angry. Fujii announcer responded by saying Chiyotaikai must have been upset by Dejima's taichiai shenanigan and what looked to be a henka move. To which, Kitanofuji said, why should he get upset over that as he does it himself.
Kishinoyama 596 Posted March 23, 2006 To which, Kitanofuji said, why should he get upset over that as he does it himself. And Kitanofuji is right. I've seen too many henkas from Chiyotaikai. He has absolutely nothing to complain about.
