Atenzan 1,084 Posted January 23, 2018 Three 0-man ganbare lineups. Players with GBL went 1-4 today! Makushitans averaged 3.8 points, Christ on a bike... And I advanced to the Kintamayama Challenge Cup quarters by a score of 8-7 over two days. Havoc, carnage and ruination!
Gurowake 4,109 Posted January 24, 2018 With the carnage in Bench I expected SG to have a low scoring day again, but this one was just a little below normal, and my repeated score from the previous day looked awful.
Suwihuto 133 Posted January 24, 2018 Wow, I'm mightily impressed with my UDH score today, two wins, three fewer than anyone else. That's got to be pretty unusual.

Asashosakari 19,690 Posted January 25, 2018 Anybody else dreading the last few days in S4? I'm going to be down to 7 pickable rikishi on senshuraku. On the upside, I was able to take advantage of the two guaranteed losers today (Tochiozan and Terunofuji) for a badly needed 3rd win...
Jakusotsu 6,052 Posted January 25, 2018 Fortunately I was able to dispose of four duds by two successful gambits...
Asashosakari 19,690 Posted January 25, 2018 By the way, I forgot to mention that Day 9's 8.2% winners made it the 11th-worst day in S4 history.
Fukurou 534 Posted January 26, 2018 What a tournament. I'm down 3 rikishi in Hoshitori (now playing with 10 rikishi). It would have been 4, thank goodness for the alternate. In Roto it's just as bad - down 3 rikishi (playing with 8 rikishi now) and no alternates allowed. Ye gawds.

You could try my strategy, have an absence in the middle of the basho because you think the tab is Odd sumo and close it because odd sumo was entered already... saves 4 picks for the end!
Rocks 1,809 Posted January 26, 2018 Man, Takarafuji killed me tonight. He wins and I get a win in Quad, TTT, Toto and 15 more points in Hoshitori.

Rocks 1,809 Posted January 27, 2018 Ugggh! What a miserable basho for me! I guess I shouldn't complain after such a long layoff. Given the lineup I went with I am not surprised with how I did pre-basho. But the daily games were miserable too. 10 losses in Quad given all those fusen and gifts from Terunofuji and Aminishiki is unacceptable. I only had 1 day with 3 wrong or worse. Toto drove me crazy. I missed so many wins by a point or less. I think I only had 1 really bad day there and yet still no KK. Oh well. At least I got some good knowledge for March watching all the matches. Rocks 1,809 Posted January 27, 2018 BTW, is this going to be the lowest winning totals for Rotosumo and Hoshitori ever?
Sakura 1,499 Posted January 27, 2018 (edited) A conversation with my spouse. Me: `I started off with 4 wins in Bench Sumo and lost every bout since then.' Spouse: ` You're worse than Goeido....' Edited January 27, 2018 by Sakura 1
Jakusotsu 6,052 Posted January 28, 2018 Looking at the dramatic playoff for the Oyakata Prize in Bench Sumo between Japanese sumogame legends Susanoo and Norizo, I wonder what happened to Tosahayate (trying not to fear the worst).
Asashosakari 19,690 Posted January 28, 2018 (edited) My Toto winning percentage on Day 15's must be somewhere near 30%. I think I'll just start picking the opposite lineups from what I'm expecting... On the other hand, my hilariously depleted S4 squad actually produced a win out of my remaining 6 pickable rikishi today. Edit: I managed to hang on to kachikoshi in Tipspiel despite 0 points today, yay. And an unlikely shared 10th place in TTT after rallying from 3-8 to 7-8. I heard from Susanoo that Tosahayate is ok but just became too busy to play the games anymore, which is a shame as he is a fine gamer.
Tsuchinoninjin 1,276 Posted January 28, 2018 Ahh, super frustrating for master's points, not all the games have even updated and already I have 6 finishes between 10-17 place! Most of the pre-basho games I got saved by backups though, so still really lucky.
Gurowake 4,109 Posted January 28, 2018 Quite a zoo in Fantasy Sumo this basho. Monkey managed to get beaten in the end by War Rhino, and 3rd place was Kung Fu Panda 2. Pandaazuma was 5th.
Asashosakari 19,690 Posted January 28, 2018 In case I yet again fail to post any banzuke notes, I'd like to shout loudly here and now that I'm so totally going to promote Pandaazuma to ozeki in Toto at last, following his yusho this basho.
