egparis18 622 Posted July 26, 2016 (edited) This article was the result of a thread on the forum started by "skepticalsports" in May. I found both the discussion between the author and people on the forum and the resulting article really interesting: It's a good well written article. I'd found the mentioned 'Sea of Crises' article by Brian Phillips on Grantland and thought about putting it on Sumo Art for the fine descriptions of Hakuho, but Toyonoshima is not a 'root vegetable' and Kisenosato is not a 'maiden aunt'. I got vexed and decided not to. Here it is http://grantland.com/features/sumo-wrestling-tokyo-japan-hakuho-yukio-mishima-novelist-seppuku/ Edited July 26, 2016 by egparis18
CT3* 331 Posted July 26, 2016 Washuyama I had the same issue with the article. The inclusion of the MB commentary toward the end soured me on it a bit. I'd already read (and disagreed with) MB's call for Hakuho to retire and disagree with his sentiment still. Otherwise, lots of good data and analysis.

egparis18 622 Posted July 27, 2016 Indeed. It would have been handier as two separate articles. The tone's skewed too. I read it twice, mind, so I'm not rubbishing it.

Washuyama 662 Posted July 28, 2016 Mark Buckton on Kisenosato Why his articles are somewhat... desliked here in the forum? I won't give my answer honestly as it may violate forum rules... Let's just say he's not my favorite person in the world, and leave it at that.
