Trump on senshuraku?

Recommended Posts

I was wondering why there were so many pics and articles with Trump today in my sumo search and later articles gave in the headlines what it had to do with sumo: he'll be in Japan for 3 days from the 26th on - that is day 15 of the basho - meeting the new tenno etc. Watching sumo together with Abe is under consideration. http://www.jiji.com/jc/article?k=2019021800790&g=pol

Given the security detail when the tenno watches sumo, President Trump going to the kokugikan would be 100 times worse after hearing about the Singapore summit security details.

Please no!  The last thing Sumo needs is the Trump stain. Everything he touches rots away into useless goop.

Abe can keep trying to suck up to him to get the stupid tariffs revoked, by stroking his ego and talking up his Nobel nomination. That should occupy his full day.

Please yes!  Keep sucking on the globalist teat if you like, but sharing sports like this is a good way to unify the Japanese and American people and increase the popularity of sumo worldwide.

This would be interesting. Given Trump's history as a sports promoter this makes sense. It would be good PR all around.  If it was in Tokyo I think it would be very likely but  I'm not sure Osaka could handle the security. Maybe they will just watch on TV.

No the last thing Sumo needs is for Trump to touch it. His Sports Promotions are all failures. Tour de Trump Failed, USFL failed, Ect...

His best success was as a Host (not a promoter) for a Tyson bout. A one round dud...

This could be interesting as a matter of advertisement. But I wonder for the security stuff, the US president is heavily protected, and I wonder how it can be done in Kokugikan without disturbing normal operations. Also, the time of american rikishi is long gone, and I don't see the Kyokai organising any king of jungyo in the USA.

Also some messages in this thread need moderation.

This isn't about "Pro-Trump" or "Anti-Trump".  This is about whether or not having the President of the United States attend a Sumo bout would be good for Sumo. I say "yes".

Trump wouldn't be touching anything. He'd just be there to watch.  His actual prowess at sports promotion is irrelevant.

That's good for sumo?   I highly doubt it.   Sumo will be what it is whether Trump attends it one day.  Sumo is a lot  bigger than that.    There are golfers boycotting playing in Trump's golf courses, hotels, etc..   So, it may even harm the sumo's image.   I for one will skip watching the days he attends.   I love sumo but can't stand Trump more.

Trump = American stupidity on display.   The dude is not even coherent and 40% of Americans voted him in.

It wasn't supposed to be, but it sure is turning out that way. This thread serves absolutely no purpose other than to state biased political opinions.

Agreed, please lock this thread.  Also, please let it be known that an anti-Trump forum member turned it political.
