Yoshikaze just continued his Aki 2015 form, pushing Kakuryu outta da dohyo.

In doing so

- he won his 3rd straight match against the Yokozunae (he beat Kakuryu and Hakuho early on at Aki 2015 basho)

- he also won 5(!) of the his 6 matches against the Yokozunae (dating back to Aki 2014)

unbelievable stuff from the Kyushu native! (Zabuton flying...) (Applauding...)

After watching today's matches I'm not sure Teronofuji's knee is as bad as previously reported

-Was expecting more of a battle between Kisenosato and Osunaarashi

-nice to see Mitakeumi win his Makuuchi debut

-happy to see Amuru outlast Endo

-to my eyes, Harumafuji looked more shaky than Hakuho

-Yoshikaze shot out like a cannon!

-glad to see all 3 Yokozuna competing

Looks like 5 year experience made the difference.

Have you watched how he avoided putting pressure on that banged up knee after the bout and when climbing down the dohyo?

Maybe he can make it to Senshuraku, but then he cannot afford such long and intensive bouts like today's marathon match with Joe.

IMO, the first goal might be to avoid kadoban.

He's still green, I'm sure he'll look more comfortable on the dohyo in due time. His opponent had experience on his side. As C.S. Lewis once said, "Experience: that most brutal of teachers. But you learn, my god do you learn."

I think I've never seen Brodie tachiai without thrusting his hands out in front of him. Is it the oyakata's tactics? Surely he would do better if he just bang his big, brusing body square on to the opponent. Then again, I've only started following sumo exactly when Brodie had his maezumo debut so who am I to comment :-P

Perhaps it's the camera angle, but it appeared that he touched the ground with his hand a second or two before he fell forward onto his face.

He is still favoring the knee, it is going to be tough for him. Wouldn't be surprised to see him drop out in a few days.

The unusual length of time it took Terunofuji to dispatch Ichinojo compared to previous bouts makes me wonder if it was due to Teru's knee holding him back or Ichinojo getting stronger. Most likely the former. I was nervous because Kintamayama's update leading into the basho said Teru wasn't winning matches in keiko when he had to hold his ground, but he definitely managed this time.

I'm happy to see Shohozan back in makuuchi and making Gagamaru belly-flop. Gagamaru losing and Shohozan winning are two of my favorite things to see, and when I can get them at the same time, even better.

Every time I see Aoiyama get totally clowned I always wonder how he's ranked so high. When against a lower ranked opponent he looks competent, but whenever he goes up against sanyaku he just looks like a clumsy fool. I don't know why I just have this utter dislike of Gagamaru and Aoiyama, I think it's because they're always slipping and falling all over themselves, to the point where it feels like their girth is of no use and hurting them more than helping. Why not be a relatively slimmer and sleeker gaijin like Tochinoshin or Amuuru when that works so well for them?
