Rikishi Status Aki Basho - Day 14 withdraw (s)

Recommended Posts

The Kyokai reports that Komusubi Chiyotairyu is kyujo for Day 11 due to medial collateral ligament injury of the right knee. Endo gets a much-needed free win.

Meanwhile, Jiji reports that Masunoyama is also kyujo for Day 11, clearly having not recovered from the knee surgery he had last month. If correct, Yoshiazuma will get the free win there.

Satoyama is kyujo for Day 12 due to a left hamstring injury suffered in his bout with Amuru yesterday. Thankfully, he already has his kachi-koshi.

Asasekiryu will get the free win.

Would you experts say that this is a normal basho regarding the amount of kyujo-rikishi? For me it sounds of quite a lot...

An interesting query may be the average number of juryo/makuuchi kyujos for each of the 6 bashos over the last 10 years.

Day 12 Late

West Juryo 9 SATOYAMA (9-2) has withdrawn from day 12.

Immediately after yesterday's bout, you could see on my video that he's done this basho.

Harumafuji-it's pretty serious-if he doesn't have surgery-one month rest. If he undergoes surgery-three months rest .

Decides to forgo the surgery. "Most of the swelling has subsided. As for Kyushu, we'll see how it goes," said Isegahama Oyakata, with a Japanese accent.

strange that wakokoyu vanished from the "absent rikishi"-site.......

Retiring rikishi are never listed as absences, it was probably just a simple miscommunication at first.

Bye-bye Wookie! It was short but sweet.

Not that short. Unless you mean his time at a Sanyaku rank ?
