Ponshun 4 Posted September 25, 2013 I was totally expecting Kyokutenho to school Endo. Me too, Kyokutenho is a big man and a hard obstacle to pass. I got big points for picking Endo over Kyokutenho on day 11 in my office pool. My thinking was that Endo would be hungrier for the win at this point in his career. ENDOOOOOOOOOO!!! So glad to see some suspense building for the Yusho race. I'm with Kintamayama - great to see the top three ranked rikishi leading the way! I'm still a bit bummed out about Baruto though...
Benevolance 2,465 Posted September 25, 2013 Endo might be hungrier, but Kyokutenho is a savvy veteran. I expected him to pull something from his bag of tricks.
torquato 1,075 Posted September 26, 2013 "WOW" it is. That's the exactly the correct word to use for Endo's bout.

Bugman 384 Posted September 26, 2013 (edited) Scandal involving Ikioi? You've just re-ignited a forgotten memory i read somewhere, here on these forums i think, although it may actually be completely fabricated in my addled brain, but didn't Ikioi beat someone soundly on the dohyo only for that opponent to later on beat him up in the changing rooms, and then said opponents career ended as a result? You've got to tell me if i'm right Kinta or if i'm mistaken, i can't remember correctly. Edited September 26, 2013 by Bugman

Akinomaki 39,551 Posted September 26, 2013 NHK news7 day 12 Kisenosato, Endo (only the 2nd) http://www3.nhk.or.jp/news/html/20130926/k10014840621000.html
Benevolance 2,465 Posted September 27, 2013 Correct me if I'm wrong, but I only thought the zabuton were thrown if a yokozuna was beat by someone lower than ozeki? Or is that just the criteria for a kinboshi? Or were the zabuton defective and everyone realized it at the same time?
ALAKTORN 346 Posted September 27, 2013 Zabuton are thrown pretty randomly from what I’ve seen. Can happen even in a yokozuna vs yokozuna bout. Only maegashira can earn a kinboshi for defeating a yokozuna.

Bugman 384 Posted September 27, 2013 The thought of Takanoyama going below Juryo makes me sad because of all the great matches he's had, also, that's the first time i've ever seen Gagamaru do a side-step, thank you for the videos Kinta. :)

We have Baruto intai possible Tochinoshin demotion and possible Wakanosato intai and Chiyomaru demotion.

We have Baruto intai possible Tochinoshin demotion and possible Wakanosato intai and Chiyomaru demotion. I think he's done really well, since getting the chance after The Great Purge. Without the kicking out of a whole bunch of people in the Cellphone Scandal, he might never have reached the level that he did. Certainly if left on his own, I don't think its likely that he reaches high Juryo. He's fun to watch, and he gets incredible marks for effort and all, but he's not a Mainoumi. He's where he should be.

Kuroyama 715 Posted September 28, 2013 I'm glad I don't have to make the decision about the Hak/Kise bout. It looks as if Hak definitely started out with his hand on the back of Kise's head, right above the neck -- but then, did it slip and get the fingers tangled in the mage? I honestly can't tell, not from this angle at the resolution of the stream. I hope the shimpan had a better shot to work from.

Akinomaki 39,551 Posted September 28, 2013 (edited) An updated version of how to fool the NHK video hiding. First you have to install the https://addons.mozil...addon/stealthy/ add-on into Firefox, restart Firefox to activate it. In the Stealthy preferences select a country to emulate and type there "J": "JP Japan" must appear and be selected - if not shown you have to try again later when the proxy is active again. The following must be repeated till the video “douga” buttons appear on the sports page. Start with the news top page: http://www3.nhk.or.jp/news/index.html Switch Stealthy on and open the NHK sports news top page by clicking on スポーツ on the left. It mustn't result in the full page displayed - an error page, a blank page loading forever or a page only with the menus is what we want. Go back to the top page, switch Stealthy off, and open the sports page again. If the “douga” buttons are displayed with some of the news items you have won. Opening an NHK news 7 sumo page after that has the start button for the video displayed, clicking on it shows the video, full screen is available. New: With Firefox 25 it is now mostly sufficient to open the NHK sports news page once with Stealthy on – the videos are shown at once (after the page has loaded correctly) without any error necessary. Then switching Stealthy off to have the usual speed again and the effect lasts for days like with the former procedure. If you don't succeed after 2 or 3 times try to deactivate Stealthy, restart Firefox, activate it, restart, (a matter of less than a minute in the add-on manager) then you can continue with trying the above again. The effect may last for several days, when gone you have to do the fooling process above again (and never press reload on an NHK news page: then all is gone). Benevolance 2,465 Posted September 28, 2013 HOMASHO! That was awesome. And poor Kaisei - gets kicked in the face by Ikioi while sitting, then the henka attempt by Myogiryu. He deserved to win that one!
Kintamayama 44,263 Posted September 29, 2013 Final day- hope you enjoyed it-I had a hard time this time with codecs disappearing and sync screwed that had to be manually adjusted and I'm on a diet so I'm hungry and I'm out of work and I'm getting old and I worry and I don't sleep. And those late mono-iis are very aggravating and the non-issues are tiresome. In short, please donate.. (Laughing...)
