thanks for this info!

Should be a nice inter-honbasho fix thanks to NIJI (and the NSK paywall to discover NIJI in the first place)

Aoiyama wins the all-Bulgarian final match against Kotooshu.

Some thoughts on Fuji TV's broadcast of the

38th Nihon Ozumo Tournament:

- Compared to NHK's common honbasho broadcast, there were quite a lot of commercial breaks (mainly for pharmaceuticals)

- The Takanoiwa vs. Tochinowaka match, a long and - judging from the audio - also very entertaining bout was completely missed, the camera was fixed on the commentators talking about something else. The bout ended with a mono-ii and tori-naoshi, the cameras returned for the tori-naoshi match.

- no replays of the missed match were shown

- no mention of the Juryo matches at all, not even from the final match

2.5 million yen yusho money for Aoiyama – several additional prizes. Many kensho as well. Kanto-sho: Toyohibiki.

Juryo (3-way play-off tomoe-sen with the winners of 3 blocks) was won by Terunofuji, against Sokokurai and Wakakoyu.

Aoiyama's path to glory:

1st round: Toyonoshima (according to the tournament schedule, didn't see this match on Fuji TV)

2nd round: Chiyotairyu

Quarterfinal: Takayasu (who beat Kakuryu in his 1st round match)

Semifinal: Toyohibiki (who started with wins against Aminishiki, Shotenro & Shohozan)

Final: Kotooshu

Both Hakuho & Kakuryu - winner and runner-up of the Hatsu 2014 basho, lost their 1st round matchup, with Hakuho "losing" interest against Sadanofuji...

(since not every bout was shown either live or as replay, I would welcome it if someone could correct or confirm above info)

more videos from the tournament:

2 mono-ii for a possible falling down at the same time.

1. Aoiyama-Toyonoshima:

many wrong explanations by Isegahama-oyakata (shinpan department top!): at first declaring gunbai-dori for Aoiyama (the gunbai had pointed to Toyonoshima), corrected to gunbai-dori for Toyonoshima (but Toyonoshima had fallen down first), the hall announcement called a tsuki-otoshi but was then stopped, Isegahama corrected to gunbai-sashi-chigae for Aoiyama, then the correct hall announcement with yori-taoshi for Aoiyama.

2. Tochinowaka-Takanoiwa: correct tori-naoshi call.

Tamawashi-Goeido

Takayasu-Kakuryu

Sadanofuji-Hakuho

Aoiyama-Kotooshu

Damn, that was hilarous. But also awkward to watch. Felt bad for Isegahama-oyakata…

Fujiazuma was kyujo from this tournament due to a detached retina. He has already left hospital following an operation, but it isn't decided yet if he will be able to enter the Haru basho.

I can only offer the quarter and semi-final torikumi:

Kotooshu defeated Kaisei

Toyohibiki defeated Shohozan

Aoiyama defeated Takayasu

Semi-finals:

Kotooshu defeated Tochinowaka

Aoiyama defeated Toyohibiki

This year NicoNico again has a program from asa-geiko, this time Shikihide-beya (with Sensho, Baraki, Urutora, Momochizakura etc.).

If you can't watch it live or want to watch it again later, you have to register (for free and they don't bother you much after it) at NicoNico and make a time-shift reservation for the program before it starts, which is at Japan time March 6th, 6:50 a.m.

Pics of all you might see with their nick-names, hobbies etc. :
