Anyone want to split the above into a separate thread for debate.

7 out of the top 8 are the greatest Dai-Yokozuna, this should be a good barometer of Japanese sentimentality/rose tinted glasses.

That is for certain, and here I've been thinking among the top three to be Futabayama, Tanikaze, Raiden (Eh?)
Seems fitting though considering that today marks the first anniversary of Chiyonofuji's passing.

8 out of 9. I would include Wakanohana I as a Dai-Yokozuna.

I would consider it a "favorite 30" or "most popular 30" rather than a "top 30"  as Endo, Ura and even Takamisakari are higher than a number of Yokozuna and Ozeki.  As a extra, the show had a female panelist/guest list what I understand as the "most attractive" rikishi.  (I'm not sure though as my understanding of Japanese is EXTREMELY limited)

I guess `top' was too vague. Just using what he said in his title. I do understand that it's a popularity contest and nothing more.

It was the top 30 of the most amazing rikishi (mottomo sugoi), not necessarily the strongest or greatest rikishi -those get voted for at the Osaka museum, but the top is likely the same: Chiyonofuji.

On BS11 - no stream but VOD for 2 weeks (and downloadable): following Hakuho to Mongolia (after the basho, till just before the jungyo), where he talks about his hardships and future plans. Guest and reporter in Mongolia: Kyokudozan. Also: a dohyo for Mongolia and the first sumo-beya, kids, the (first) Mongolian sekitori and the roots of their power.

Downloadhelper. Youtube-dl needs the m3u8 playlist URL, which easiest is to get with Downloadhelper, but Downloadhelper can download it alone for the BS11 VOD site, unlike Yahoo videos. Youtube-dl with the video page URL downloads the list of playlists, but can't download the video directly from there. One can find the necessary playlist URL in this list though.

I haven't seen the Japanese version of this yet, so I post this Chinese news report of keiko at the new Tomozuna-beya (likely before Nagoya with an uninjured Asahisho in makushita) - all talk by Japanese (the oyakata as well) is Japanese with subtitles - Hakuho is not in it

the exhibitions's poll about the strongest rikishi ever at halftime has Chiyonofuji in the lead, with about 30% of all votes, Taiho has about 20%, Hakuho and then Futabayama follow behind.

Since we didn't split the first ranking into a different thread: the final results, top as expected: http://www.sankei.com/west/news/170809/wst1708090033-n1.html

5   Kitanoumi
6   Raiden
7   Takanohana
8   Kisenosato

With the Fuji TV jungyo under way, Fuji TV has sumo on several programs.

Not much sumo on  this one, but Onoe-beya all the way: eat with all rikishi to gain a total of 50kg on one day - on OjaMAP!! (= ex-SMAP intrude/ojama suru) : http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5xv73s

page to find other video links for this entertainment program: http://muryoutube-owaraitv.com/ozyamap-170823/

similar page: http://owaraimovielink.blog136.fc2.com/blog-entry-110788.html

I wonder how one can get to the miomio.tv videos - they won't ever load

Satoyama announced he wants to continue also in makushita and fight to get back up

@Akinomaki,

Are these available on sherming? and recordable using youtube-dl.exe?

None of the BS channels is on Sherming, for hirunandesu - Asojima was quicker, I can scrap the rest, see above

Edit: I thought the  recording is bad, but Sherming6 is bad now:

youtube-dl https://hls-ord-3a.vaughnsoft.net/den/live/live_sherming6/chunklist.m3u8 --referer https://vaughnlive.tv/sherming6

works just like with NHK.

Hiru nan desu will likely appear as a video on YT or Dailymotion, for the gappuri soken, we can only hope that it will appear after a while for a while, otherwise we only have the clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNEy8Gog1Tw

What we have now is yesterday's Tetsuko-no-heya with ex-Takamiyama: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1VyFcOCQBc

He also talks about his daughter, whose existence was doubted here recently
