Oskanohana 361 Posted July 19 21 hours ago, Jakusotsu said: There's still Hidenoumi and Hakuyozan, not to name the one who shan't be named (starting with the Azuma kanji). After a night of sleep, the answer is so obvious. HE who can't be named. Of course. Problem is in my head I still know him as Shiraishi. That's the name I knew him by first and it was hate at first sight. For reference, it took me several years to think of Meigetsuin as Chiyotairyu. For instance, now in my mental banzuke I have Ishizaki I and Ishizaki II. Thanks to @Koorifuu and @Tigerboy1966 for kindly trying the show me the way to the light while I was stumbling through the shadows. By the way, I'll never address HIM as a juryo janitor. He is the trash that should be cleaned but it's hard to find some honest blue-collar workers these days. Come on, Yago, come back to Juryo, you big clumsy doofus. 1
BigKahunaMan 18 Posted July 20 Takerufuji soldiering on with a bum leg the one time I understood because a yusho was at stake, but we're only just hitting nakabi and he's not exactly at the top of the leaderboard. If anyone should be able to convince him that sitting out and healing is perfectly doable career wise it's ex-Terunofuji. Wonder what the thought process is there. Yubinhaad 11,968 Posted July 20 Ahead of Day 9, one rikishi begins his basho while another returns after a few days off. Four others have to withdraw. Entering/Returning: Ms19e Nobehara (withdrew Day 5) Ms35w Kaishin Withdrawing: Ms16e Enho - as mentioned earlier, he seemed to injure his left knee after being pushed out in his last bout on Day 7. Jd15e Takataisho (fusenpai Day 8) - looked like he jarred his foot or ankle against the tawara in losing his last bout. Jd36e Takasu (fusenpai Day 7) Jk15w Usagifuji (fusenpai Day 7) Jd79e Tamanotora also had a fusenpai on Day 7, but has not withdrawn from the basho.

Yubinhaad 11,968 Posted July 22 Just one withdrawal from the lower divisions ahead of Day 11: Jd61e Fujiyuho - he got kachi-koshi in his last bout on Day 9, but at a cost, his left knee seemed to buckle just as he won it. The kachinanori was given to an empty space. Similar thing happened today as Jd77e Anzakura also seemed to suffer a leg injury on landing off the dohyo as he won his bout, he was also helped away, but hasn't withdrawn at this stage.

I'll put some Savlon on it and see if it grows back. Have you got any paracetomol? 1
Asashosakari 20,249 Posted July 22 Unusual coverage of a non-sekitori's injury, as Nikkan had something about Enho yesterday and today: Tateyama-oyakata and Magaki-oyakata, standing in for also kyujo Isegahama, commented on the situation. Enho has suffered an avulsion fracture of the fibula in his left leg, apparently right underneath the knee; the initial article made it sound likely that he'll be good to go again next basho, the follow-up report sounds a bit more cautious as nerve damage may be involved. An MRI was set to take place today to determine the exact extent of the injury, so we may well get another update tomorrow. 1

Also via Nikkan - fluid build-up in his knees, a recurring problem carried over from his active days, but worse and more painful than usual at the moment. Isegahama had to nope out of his Kyokai duties by Day 9, and today he went back to Tokyo for a more thorough check-up.
