Jakusotsu 6,050 Posted March 20 Wow - seven(!) different picks! Yet the most popular one prevailed, although I find Abi against MK Takanosho disappointing. I'm way more disappointed that they think Oho is a reasonable opponent for Onosato. I get that they make eight losses the cutoff, but at some point not even hovering near .500 has to get the match broken.

It's looking at it from two angles. I'm with you in that I don't think it's wrong for Oho to get an ozeki when he can still get a KK. But I would rather see the ozeki tied for the lead get someone who's in the running to try and knock him off his perch, especially since he should get Daieisho and Koto the last two days. Edit: It's probably worth pointing out that part of my thinking includes the fact that, with seven losses, Oho could be MK by the time the fight happens. I'm not a fan of a matchup with a chance of one guy leading the tournament and the other already being consigned to demotion, but it's happening because the latter is in the san'yaku. If you take the nameplates off, so to speak, and assume the sekiwake is the better wrestler, there's still the fact that a 4-7 sekiwake has mostly faced maegashira opponents and clearly does not have it this basho. The M7, though, isn't that far down the ranks, especially considering the day before, where said ozeki is fighting an M6 contender. I get why Oho was kept in the line of fire; I'm just not convinced it's clearly the right decision, even if it's the expected one. Anyway. Now we get to play "will they schedule day 14 before the matches or after". 14. Kirishima

Jakusotsu 6,050 Posted March 21 (edited) Silly me forgot about their recent habit to postpone the day 14 torikumi. That makes Abi very unlikely. Edited March 21 by Jakusotsu
