Kotozakura is worried if he can go to London with his injured right knee. Nothing snapped apart, he can walk again. He'll only do the dohyo-iri at the upcoming intai-zumo events and then has to decide, considering the recovery condition of the injured part.  o

Kotozakura has decided that he won't go, kyujo for London, which together with the one day and the 100 years tournament is the Aki jungyo this year

Do we already know how they get to London? Will there be a sumo plane?

There should be at least two planes. The NSK doesn’t want to take a chance of something happening to all of the rikishi at the same time.

One each for East and West side ;-)

Only £285 tickets clickable now.

There's still £50 standing left if you switch to Saturday

Still no Sunday ticket. Have you all received everything? I'm rather worried as a neighbour tried to intercept the first envelope last time.

I have received all tickets, the event tickets arrived in September and the radio ticket earlier this week.

I received mine yesterday. If youre worried, I called them once I thought my ticket was lost and they were super helpful in the RAH. Also, if you bring the card you used to buy the tickets + the confirmation email, they can reprint them at the tickets office, according to the confirmation email.

There's no official announcement yet, but the entire tournament will be broadcast live here in the UK - free to view.

I don't know about rights for outside the UK (but I assume it won't be difficult to find...)

East went from Haneda airport today, the group with Onosato, tomorrow Hoshoryu with the others. A total of about 120 NSK members go to London.

Edit: this concerns only the most precious, the yokozuna. Both sekiwake east and west are in the group today

Great stuff!

The event will be live streamed entirely by the BBC in the UK, and on Pluto TV elsewhere. Hiro Morita and English sports commentator James Richardson will do the live commentary. I (!) will be involved in the online coverage and will do my best to make all BBC stuff as accurate and less banal as I can.

Other than Kotozakura, also Kusano, Meisei and Tomokaze won't be there. Oshoumi and Kotoeiho will replace them.

Yes. BBC iPlayer all days. I believe Red Button all days excluding Saturday night.

I can't get over the big guys with handbags fashion that seems prevalent with rikishi (Laughing...)

Yes I know that's a japanese thing and some of them seem to have travel bags instead, but still it doesn't stop being funny for me. The contrast with formal traditional wear and an expensive brand handbag is just too much. Aonishiki blends in very well already with his stylish handbag (Sakke...)
