RabidJohn 1,858 Posted September 24, 2024 I broke my ankle when I was 25 and it did not stop me hobbling through the snow on crutches to get to the pub. It wasn't clever. Having Nishonoseki tell him "Park your arse in that wheelchair and get mingling" is probably a good thing.

Benevolance 2,511 Posted September 27, 2024 Onosato was merely dusting off a spot of the tawara that the yobisdashi had missed, and if the NSK called him out on it, they'd undoubtedly be honour bound to kill the yobidashi and/or the gyoji. Onosato was simply saving lives. He's a hero. With a brand new car and a trophy and a bunch of macarons. In very related news, is Kirishima going to be on an ozeki run next tournament?

Well, a 13-2 basho gets him to 33/3 so he technically meet the requirements to be promoted... whether that would be enough is another question. I don't think 12 wins basho (maybe if it's 12-3 Y) would be enough.
Tsuchinoninjin 1,276 Posted September 28, 2024 I took a peek at this years polls and I think we might be in for a historically bad prediction performance as a forum as a whole.

Part of me wishes they would give it to him on twelve because he was obviously struggling with injury and back-to-back 12-3s, especially nowadays when even 13 wins is pretty unusual, should be evidence he's back in form. But the other part of me wants him to take the opportunity by the neck, rip off 35 wins across September-November-January, and leave no doubt. And I'm not sure which part is bigger.
