It's looking challenging for Fujiko here. Even with a Czech loss, scoring enough goals may not be possible.

Ryoshishokunin       0:0     Kaba

Well done the Dutch here, breaking Kaba's chain no later than slot 4. I don't think there are permutations for Kaba. The Austrians and the Scots get me goals if the chain survives, and if it doesn't it breaks for Kaba first.

(I'm stealing Achiyama's thunder, but I wanted to know what was up after finishing watching the Oranje match. )

For the 1st comment:

If Czechia loses and Portugal and Belgium draw, then Fujiko wins 2:1.

For the 2nd comment:

I feel a gloating - which is not good!

Jakusotsu is the only one to announce winners!

Group A Round 2 - Day 5 :

One game left to play in less than an hour, in this round 2, but it cannot affect anything in this group so let's wrap it up !

Some damage control at #1 with Portugal's win for Nekonishiki but the score is still very heavy. What did you bet for the loser? To pay for the beers? :-)

Kuma Koma gives a lesson to his friend with this 5 - 1

  Kuma Koma     Goal H Chain H   Goal A Chain A   Nekonishiki
1. Germany ® W - 1   -     W Portugal
2. Spain W - 1   -     D Czechia
3. Switzerland D -     - 1   W Germany
4. Netherlands D -     -   X L Poland
5. Denmark D -     -     L Slovakia
6. Czechia D -     -       Belgium
7. Austria W - 1   -     D Denmark ©
8. Ukraine W - 1   -     L Hungary ®
9. Albania © D - 1   -     L Turkey

  Kuma Koma     5     1     Nekonishiki

Portugal won and Tanetakahiro scored the only goal of this duel. Jakusotsu probably regrets placing his (R) team so high. There were other alternatives which could have led him to the win. Of course, it is easier to say that after the results.

Tanetakahiro wins 1 - 0

  Tanetakahiro     Goal H Chain H   Goal A Chain A   Jakusotsu
1. Portugal W - 1   -   X D Switzerland ®
2. Croatia D -     -     W Austria ©

Standings after Round 2 :

    Kuma Koma 5
    Nekonishiki 1

    Tanetakahiro 1
    Jakusotsu 0

    GOUPE A Points Win Draw Loss GF GA Goal Diff
  1 Tanetakahiro 6 2 0 0 3 1 +2
  2 Kuma Koma 3 1 0 1 6 3 +3
  3 Jakusotsu 3 1 0 1 3 1 +2
  4 Nekonishiki 0 0 0 2 1 8 -7

Tanetakahiro is already qualified for the octofinals. Congrats !
Kuma Koma and Jakusotsu have both 3 points and will face each other in round 3. Will they "settle" for a draw? It will surely qualify both as the 4 best 3rd will also qualify and usually with 4 points you are among the best 3rd. That said, even with 3 points qualification could be possible but it will depend much more on the other groups. We'll see.

I wish I could say that Nekonishiki has still chances to qualify but if this happens it would be a real miracle. Not only must he beat Tanetakahiro, his opponent in round 3, but he must also win with a very high score as his goal difference is at -7 right now. Miracles happen....

A reminder to the refiojis.....

We basically follow the same rules for ranking within a group, that are applied at the Euro 2024. These may be different to what you are expecting.....

Tiebreakers

If two or more teams are equal on points on completion of the group matches, the following tie-breaking criteria are applied:[80]

  1. Higher number of points obtained in the matches played between the teams in question;
  2. Superior goal difference resulting from the matches played between the teams in question;
  3. Higher number of goals scored in the matches played between the teams in question;
  4. If, after having applied criteria 1 to 3, teams still have an equal ranking, criteria 1 to 3 are reapplied exclusively to the matches between the teams who are still level to determine their final rankings.[a] If this procedure does not lead to a decision, criteria 5 to 9 will apply;
  5. Superior goal difference in all group matches;
  6. Higher number of goals scored in all group matches;
  7. If on the last round of the group stage, two teams who are facing each other are tied in points, goal difference and goals scored then they drew their match, their ranking is determined by a penalty shoot-out. (This criterion is not used if more than two teams had the same number of points.);
  8. Lower disciplinary points total in all group matches (1 point for a single yellow card, 3 points for a red card regardless whether it was a direct red card or two yellow cards, 4 points for a yellow card followed by a direct red card);
  9. Higher position in the European Qualifiers overall ranking, unless the comparison involves hosts Germany, in which case a drawing of lots will take place.

How do we get carded in bench euros? :)

10. Fair play rules

A player entering a team not in his squad in a line-up gets a 'red card' (but will still be allowed to play, of course).
After awatrding the red card, the refioji should try to contact the player in time to let them know of the mistake, and ask them to correct his line-up in time.

If a player fails to re-send a correct line-up to the refioji before the deadline, the refioji needs to remove the illegal team(s) concerned from the chain, and move the remaining legal teams up the chain accordingly.  The team that was on the player's squad that was omitted is then added to the end of the chain.  If more than one legal team is missing from the chain, they are to be added in order of the 'droning rules' (see rule 9.)

A player droning for a round gets a 'yellow card'.

Two yellow cards = one red card.
These will accumulate throughout the tournament.

Group C Round 2 - Day 5 :

I don't think it is very common to score in just the last two spots. That is exactly what Achiyama did to win ! He kept his chain alive and hit the final blows at the end.

Baku and Achiyama will face each other in round 3. Will they settle for a draw?
Polimasa will compete in the consolation Cup after round 3.

I am going through the Bench Euros 2020 (held in 2021) thread, to see how we handled the Bench Saucers bracket.

Whilst doing do, I saw this post - and so I will copy and paste for this tournament too :-)

Please can all refiojis give a recap of all three rounds of the matches in their group when presenting the final table. It makes it easier for me (or others) to double check, and keeps the record easier to see for anyone interested at looking back in the future. Something like this:-

Table copied from Wikipedia.

Bench Euros 2024 Cup knockout bracket

I am putting this here as a template for later (and so others can check for mistakes)...

It should be the same as the official knockout bracket for the 2024 Euros. (It is also identical to what was used for the Euros 2020, as far as I can tell.)

1st B vs 3rd (A/D/E/F)
1st A vs 2nd C

1st F vs 3rd (A/B/C)
2nd D vs 2nd E
***************************
1st E vs 3rd (A/B/C/D)
1st D vs 2nd F

1st C vs 3rd (D/E/F)
2nd A vs 2nd B

The specific match-ups involving the third-placed teams will depend on which four third-placed teams qualify for the round of 16:

Third-placed teams

I believe that we can put two names already into the knockout stages for the Cup.

1st B vs 3rd (A/D/E/F)
Tanetakahiro (Scotland) vs 2nd C

1st F vs 3rd (A/B/C)
2nd D vs 2nd E

The rules for how the Saucer bracket is arranged can be found in the usual place. NB This is for the Saucer Quarterfinals. (There are currently no Octofinals for Euro Saucerists.)

Basically, the two 3rd teams not progressing to the Cup get seeded 1 and 2. The two fourth placed teams from those groups then get placed in the matches on the opposite side of the draw. These two fourth placed teams are also ranked to see who faces who later. Then the remaining four fourth placed teams are ranked. The fourth ranked team will then meet the top seed. The third ranked will meet the second seed. The second ranked will meet the higher ranked of the 'other' two fourth placed teams. The first ranked will meet the lower ranked of the 'other' fourth placed teams.

Correct score of Fujiko - Ganzohnesushi is 1 - 5 (one more goal at #8) Forget that, chain breaks at #6.

Not sure what you were looking at.... As far as I can see Austria (R) at #6 has won, thus Austria scored 2 goals vs. drawing Denmark. And my chain breaks only at #7 with Slovakia losing. If I'm counting right the final results is 5-1. Guess we simply have to wait for Refioji Jakusotsu coming home from the annual German Sumo Forum meeting to announce the correct results.

Along with me on my way back to Stuttgart are dozens of Scottish Fans to support their team vs. Hungary. Funny guys, we all really must like them and I hope they can beat Hungary tonight.

You are absolutely right, I was looking more at where the chain broke and I trusted the details of the displayed score. Final score should be  1 - 5 indeed.
I'll wait for the official refioji to call it, then I'll correct the Boot/Gloves tables.

I had the time and checked the Scenarios Tables and concur with Gansohnesushi - his win is 5:1.

But as I said in my posting Jakusotsu will announce the final scores and rankings when he returns home.

Arriving at Stuttgart main station one hour ago there were hundreds of brave men from the Tartan Army and a group of really aggressive Hungarians trying to provoke them. One more reason to root for Scotland and their fantastic fans.
