The Bench Euros 2020 (taking place in 2021)

Only 10 teams compete in the Copa America, so would not really work using similar rules to bench World Cup and Euros.

True. Lately they have more (up to 12) as they invite other teams such as Japan (!), Qatar (!) or Mexico but even so, not enough teams.

Actually what would be epic is a "Bench UEFA Champions League" but probably too "heavy" to manage. Sorry, off topic but I was thinking about it.

A long time ago (over a decade back), I suggested the same thing - but there was not much enthusiasm for it at the time. Unless things have changed, I doubt that there would be enough interest for it now.

If it were to happen, the actual management would be much easier than for a Bench Euros or a Bench World Cup, due to the time between matches. For the knockout stages, the game might even benefit, due to the home and away matches for all but the finals.

Maybe raise the topic again after the Bench Euros are over to see if there is any interest?

You need 32 players if it's on the same basis as here. I already have at least 4 ready to play for sure. If you're interested it, please consider it. ;-)

Edit : We have so many nationalities here. So many could relate to German, English, Spanish, Italian, French, Portuguese, Dutch and so on clubs. How could they not be interested?? Bulgarian and Hungarian clubs reach the group stages at times. And as you said, it would last for all the football season, with a rather slower rythm than a Euro, giving time to think and play. Also people living on the other side of the oceans interested in football could have fun to play this competition. I'm sure it would be epic ! Just my humble opinion.

The beauty of Euro and World Cup is that they are not every year. When you have a break the interest of playing the game much higher.

Didn't we tried or discussed to play the African Nations  Championship (16 teams)? But I think we didn't get enough players.

I don't like the Club tournaments mostly because it spans for a few months and it's difficult to commit playing it. Also, every year is too much.

So, don't count me in.

Group F, round 2 final results.

Godango-Terarno :

France couldn't win today so the chain broke at S1 for Terarno. Also that allowed Godango to score at that slot. The second goal was score by Sweden at S3 for a 2-0 final score. Congrats to Godango!

Chishafuwaku-Finngall :

And the biggest score of the real Euro so far happened here. Surprising? Not at all. Great match between Germany and Portugal.  Back to our players, you had all the elements in my previous post. So as Germany won, so did Finngall by 3-0. Congrats ton Finngall !

Next match ups:
Finngall - Godango
Chishafuwaku - Terarno

Line ups will be posted after the deadline tomorrow.

Group E - Refioji Nekonishiki
Round 2 - Day 4

And this round is finished, too. Excitement until the last moment.

Ojisan vs Chijanofuji

With Spain's draw Ojisan scores only one goal, and this is all, because his chain breaks in Slot #2.
Chijanofuji can not take advantage of it, his chain breaks in #6, and the match is over.

Achiyama vs Djodjoyoshi

Achiyama scores his first goal thanks to draw of France.
If Spain wins, two more goals! But no luck for him.
Djodjoyoshi can take the goal for victory of Wales, but his chain breaks in the following slot.

Official results

Ojisan 1 Chijanofuji 0
Achiyama 1 Djodjoyoshi 1

Congratulations to the droning Ojisan! (Applauding...)

And so Ye-Olde-Crystal-Ball (TM) has failed me yet again and my top teams have let me down twice in a row now! :'-(

I'm almost rooting for Spain and France to crash out in the first round now... >:-(

As I said before, Joaoiyama needed France to draw, and by no small miracle that's exactly what happened.

Ganzohnesushi started strong with a 2:0 lead, but Pitinosato managed to turn the match around by courtesy of his R-Team. The self-proclaimed most unlucky Bench Sumo player doesn't fare any better in Bench Football. B-)

Group A, Matche #2, final results:

Baku - Andrasoyama 0-2

Nantonoyama - Furanohana 4-0

image.png.dc8508be87426f1c117ec428fe0560b3.png

Perfect seeding by Andrasoyama, his 3 winners in the first 3 slots !

Baku had more winners, but the loss of his R-Team was decisively

image.png.fe56ae1ed45c81f725ad36ceead8b592.png

what a demonstratation of strength by Nantonoyama !

With each of his 3 winners he scored, and even with a draw of his C-Team.

Poor defense by Furanohana, but not so easy with only one winner in his Team

Group A, standings after 2 matches

image.png.63e7282f3aa6863a466e90b6d89558fb.png

Nantonoyama is already qualified for the octofinals

For Andrasoyama it looks also VERY good

Furanohana has to catch up 3 points and 6 goals to secure octofinals. But with a win and 4 points he *should" be one of the 4 best third place teams

Baku MUST win to have a slim chance to go ahead.

The Matches of Day 3:

Furanohana - Baku

Nantonoyama - Andrasoyama

Right now I miss the line-ups of @Furanohana and @Andrasoyamawaka02

Group E - Refioji Nekonishiki
Round 3 - Day 1

Round 3 is starting today, new hopes and new chances.
This is a very important round, it will decide who will go to Round 16 and who will fly home with the pretty plane Jejima sends for them.

Achiyama and Djodjoyoshi are leading the group, followed by Ojisan in the third place and Chijanofuji is currently on the fourth place without a win.

Chijanofuji vs Achiyama

Some annoyance in the beginning for the players: both of them had the same great hope in Netherlands.

Ojisan vs Djodjoyoshi

Ojisan gets his third yellow card for not sending any line-up before the round.

Players of this match have Hungary in the same Slot #9.
