Keeps you eyes peeled for @Tenshinhan there. That's looking like one heck of a lineup he's got now.

Yeah it is a good one. I think he beat me for the yusho last basho too. He definitely has a talent for this game.

Owl lost today...the first TB he has lost as well. Fortunately for him @Andonishiki suffered his first loss as well. A nice battle is forming here, as Chisha and Renaud also join the party just one off the pace. A special mention to Jan and Ganzo, who are having nightmares daily. Hopefully they'll turn things around.

Stefan keeps up the fine work in Juryo. Unko is doing extremely well considering his ludicrous slate of opponents. And Ronnie and Steve are making mincemeat of substandard opposition in mid and lower Makushita.

A fine day for the Panda in both the daily and pre-basho fields. Leading by a country mile in several games, I am strongly placed for the green mawashi at this stage and need only to avoid injuries and/or catastrophe. I am focusing now on turning around my rubbish games to gain creditable winning records (Quad, ISP). Best line-up of the day in SG Makuuchi also gave me a Baka Cup reprieve. 2-5 now.

Minus Odd and TUG, it's a clean sweep!  Tied inside the top 10 in Quad (6-1) and TTT (5-2), and a good day in DST put me JUST above the KK/MK line.

Owl won again and is now the sole leader. He's having a hoot! ;)

Panda, Scott, Sergio, Renaud and Mark are all still in it at 5-3. But there was more misery for Jan, Seb and Ganzo with losses across the board.

Stefan lost in Juryo and is now 6-2. Hal is 2-6 after another loss. But Unko won strongly again to regain parity. Our triumphant Makushita duo march on as well for their sixth wins.

Panda nakabi review:

Dailies, in order of healthiness:

Chain: Snuck into the top ten but am out. Picked up a tiny fraction of a Masters point that is only useful really for the kanto-sho.
Tipspiel: An awful 1 today but I'm still in the top ten.
Toto: 6-2. I feel I am picking well and should have no problem clearing the kadoban label...and want to get double digits.
SG: 5-3. Picking OK in a tricky basho but it's all about getting 8 at the moment. Not thinking about anything else.
TTT: 5-3. Happy with this. Will be even happier when the missing bonus points are added.
Bench: 4-4. A good comeback from a bad start. Going for 8 in my shin sekiwake basho.
Quad: 4-4. Also a fine comeback from 0-3. Just want 8.
Odd: Just going for medium-sized bets now and hoping to get lucky.
ISP: 3-5. Awful as always. I doubt I'll manage 8. Might start chucking darts.

Pre-bashos:

GTB: Already have the yusho here.
Hoshitori: Leading by 50 points and looking good for yusho.
Rotosumo: Also leading and have a decent chance of top ten.
Fantasy Sumo: Top five and a real chance of yusho here.
UDH: The last three days since the last update have been very strong and I have a chance of yusho here as well.
Salarycap: This will depend very much on whether one of my lads can sneak a jun yusho, but top ten is very possible.
Oracle: Likely top ten as usual.
Bingo: Currently top ten and my team looks good. Confident.
Paper Oyakata: 12th at the moment and am also confident.
Juryo Game: Hovering around the top 15-20 but again my team looks pretty good as long as Takagenji and Wakatakakage wake up.
Norizo Cup: I doubt I'll make top ten here but should manage a winning record.

If I can keep going OK in week two, I could be looking at a monster score. However, I traditionally have an absolute disaster between days 9 and 12. So...I'm hoping to avoid that this time.

Baka Cup is looking up a bit. 3-5 now and I fight Scott in SG tomorrow!

Kind of a split day 8.  Fairly good, but a loss in Quad is tough to take.  Won in SG for a happy 5-3.  Also got one of the few wins in TTT for a four-way tie for fourth.  Also now on an inexplicable four-day win streak in Toto and in a large tie for 11th.  I might be exaggerating if I say I don't think I've ever gotten any Masters points in Toto, but I also might not be.

And 5-3 in SG while being 3-5 in Bench is unusual.  Perhaps a not entirely rare abysmal performance across most the pre-bashos explains it.  (But in the running to yusho in Oracle?  Sometimes things happen in fantasy sumo that I will never even begin to understand.)

I've had my best start in several years in this basho. After nakabi, in the head-to-head games I'm 7-1 in SG, 6-2 in Toto (where I'm kadoban), and 5-3 in Bench. I'm 5-3 in ISP and Quad. I'm also 5-3 and in the top 10 in TTT and have 59 points for 6th place in Odd. A number of off days in a row has me tied for 37th place in Tip-Spiel. And I finished in the top 10 (along with 19 other people) in Chain, good for .05 of a point.

In the pre-basho games, I'm in the top ten in Roto (6), Bingo (3),  SalaryCap (7), and Upside Down (9). I'm nowhere near the top 10 in Oracle, but with my low bet on Kisenosato I may end up there.

This is grind out time in the dailies, and wait and watch in the pre-games.

Owl sadly slipped up today but it has let in Scott, Renaud and Mark. The misery keeps on piling up for Jan, but a special shout out to Ganzo, whose mood will NOT have been improved by scoring above average but walking into the best line-up of all three divisions - a very improbable 7.

Hal was the only Juryo winner. Stefan is having his usual mid-basho break...when will he wake up and start winning again? And our Makushita lads lost. It was such an insane day, Steve lost with an AAD against a drone that had Mitakeumi and Tochinoshin. Ooof.

Once again the kind of day I despise but I did surprisingly well out of it, picking up wins in Bench and Toto. The pre-bashos were OK...holding pattern there. The Baka Cup was weird, as all my three different lads fought before Scott's and they all lost. Then Kaisei made sure I couldn't even win a tie. And then Scott's different lads also went on to lose. As did his top TB lad. Kaisei ended up costing me the bout...against a yotsu guy. God dammit! 3-6 in the Baka Cup.

Weird day, indeed.  A not-quite-so-horrific zero in DST is the lowlight.  Another delicious kinboshi in SG is probably the highlight.  Wins also in Bench and ISP.

I didn't manage to get one of the six wins in TTT, but neither did anybody else anywhere near the top.

The second consecutive loss in Quad drags me down to a large tie for 10th.

And somehow currently 3rd in Juryo Game.

Looking like SG, TTT, JG, Oracle, and (with a decent finish) Quad are my only fair hopes for (more) points.

The almost usual scenario when I meet Hironoumi who almost always seems to have a brilliant day when meeting me. I agree, my mood has not improved but with 65 points scored against me this meanwhile is pure comedy. Just for comparison, so far 64 points is best score in all three divisions...

Of course my own scoring is rather poor, thus a demotion to Juryo is well deserved. Just one more loss and I will be demoted to Juryo... Aki'12 was the last time I was ranked in Juryo (12-3Y). Perhaps this could be the U-turn then...

Owl walked into a 9 today and fell out of the lead, but remains only one off the pace, joined now by Scott. Stefan is developing a real reputation as a streaker...and is currently on the losing variety. And our unlucky Makuuchi trio all won today. Hurray.

Once again I salvaged a creditable performance from the chaos. Sadly I lost Toto, but I won most of the others. The pre-basho games have fallen off a little but I'm still in the big points. 3-7 in the Baka Cup and the writing may well be on the wall, although I'll definitely try to win out.

This is turning into just the kind of basho that fills me with hope, which I like but also don't like.

In the running in SG, TTT, Quad, and even (somehow) on the edge in Toto.  With an extraordinary amount of luck, I could make almost as many points as I made all last year.

Doesn't look like the Sumo Game guy has read my email yet so I'll do the stats tomorrow afternoon, as I have to get an early night for work in the morning.

The games are looking good overall and I have multiple chances for big points. Green mawashi is a real possibility and, with a decent finish, I could get a very big score. Sadly the inevitable happened in the Baka Cup and I'll be taking possession of that for two months...and fully deserved it is too. SG is a total lottery in tournaments like this. Prediction ability counts for very little among the top players. If I make 8, I'll be pretty surprised...and very relieved.

Quite the basho going on here.

Now in a five-way tie for the SG yusho.  In a 13-way tie for 6th in Quad, only one win behind the leading group of five.  With my two compatriots tied for second in TTT not taking the freebie day, I'm now alone in fourth place, one win behind the leading group of three.

I seem to be slipping in Oracle and Juryo Game.

Snagged a recovery win in Bench, for 5-6.  At M14w, I cannot afford many more losses.  With a fair day in DST, I'm now over a point above the KK/MK line.  Also recovered in ISP, also for 5-6.  After taking advantage of the fusens, I was betting on literally only Chiyotairyu, and still lost.  It seems I won't make anything happen in Odd this time around.  Slipped to 6-5 in Toto, which is fairly well out of the running.

No word on TUG,  and I can't remember who I picked, but I was alone in 2nd place going into the day.  Can we get this on the Masters list already?

The Sumo Game error has been corrected, but the stats will not be updated until tonight, so I'll sort that out later.
