Mukade Beya (Formerly STI) Sumo Gaming Banter Thread

Recommended Posts

6-8 in Bench and SG after wins in each.

Worst DST basho in maybe ever.

7-7 in ISP.

Lost in Quad so points are out of the question there.

Won a modest bet in Odd for 4th place, JUST ahead of the Panda.

Miraculously in an 8-way tie for 6th in Toto.  This would be amazing.

Lost in TTT so also out of the points there, but at least KK is presumably secured.

Hey, I've been struggling to improve my performance. Give me another 15 days of sumo and I might catch a Panda (Showingoff...)

With four games to report results, it looks like Gurowake has very deservedly won the Green. He has an excellent 78.02 points plus potentially many more from the remaining four games. Norizo managed Quad yusho but it wasn't enough. Pandaazuma wins the World Championship with at least 300 points. Probably around 300-310 points.

I think it was the lowest-scoring basho in SG in history and that played havoc with our performances on the whole. As usual there was a fair amount of good and bad luck as well. In Makuuchi, only Gary, Rupert and Miyako achieved winning records. Hal also fell to MK in Juryo. Makushita was much better, with our two lads achieving double digits.

Panda will be soft kadoban in Hatsu after an epic screw-up today (see below). Seb and Scott are out of sanyaku while Gary and Miyako will be sekiwake. Luckless Stefan will have to go back down to Juryo, but the other lads should survive. Chisha will have a nervous wait though. Unkonoyama and possibly even Jejima may get the promotion nod.

Final Standings:

Rank    Wins Points AADs Opp AADs 10 8+ 5- TB TB+ Who? SG shikona

It was the usual senshuraku horror show in the dailies. Annoying that I always have to fight Yamashiro on that day every basho because I am always useless on the final day. That said, today I changed Ikioi and Takarafuji to Shodai and Yoshikaze...and that cost me the bout and doomed me to soft kadoban. It basically summed up my year in SG. I think I have the second highest score of all players and yet I've only managed 8-7s. A really unlucky year. Need to win a yusho or two next year as Yokozuna. Overall this basho I was pretty poor in the dailies but I got the pre-bashos mostly correct and that looks to have carried me over the 300 line. I am going to sweep all the sansho, I think, but I've just missed out on the daily world championship - Susanoo has pipped me by about a point!

Overall a pretty good year. I'll just try to beat my own record next time, but I suspect I'm due a bad year in the games.

I doubt it from past experience!

I will almost certainly be kosho for January (whilst on holiday).

I count 79.57
Bench - (12+10+8)/3 = 10
CG - (8+6+5+4+3+2+1)/10 = 2.9
DTS - 6
GTB - (10+8+6+5)/4 = 7.25
Bingo - 12
Paper - 4
Roto - 15
Oracle - 12
Toto - (8+6+5+4)/4 = 5.75
TTT - (8+6+5+4+3+2)/6 = 4.67

If I missed someone with 10 wins in Bench, that would reduce my score by 1; if I missed 2, it would reduce it by 1.8.  I may have miscounted ties or places somewhere else as well though.  I did do the calculations initially in my head or on paper, but I confirmed them with a calculator.

I don't expect points in anything else that hasn't been finished scoring, but I suspect that nearly 80 is enough for the top score for the basho.

Yeah, I did miss a 10-5 in bench (or maybe I didn't count myself?  I'm pretty sure I noticed the other three before), so put me down to 78.57.

Five people went 10-5 in Toto as well so you scored 5.2 there. 78.02 I think is correct.

A hopeful update on our Ronnie. He hasn't read the email I sent him from the forum and missed all the games, which worried me, but he made two transfers in his fantasy football team the other day...so I am hopeful that he is still alive and kicking at least. Let's hope the River of Scotland makes a return soon.

Sorry Simon, I did reply to your email but you obviously didn't get it. Serious illness in the family, another death and all the stuff that goes with that, the furthest thing from my mind was the basho. I will hopefully be back in the New Year and making my way back up the banzukes.

Sorry to hear all this terrible news, mate, but I am relieved you are ok. Weird about the email. It still says 'not read' and there are definitely no replies. Maybe some technical glitch.

No glitch. It will remain 'not read' until ronnie clicks it here in the forum.

Yeah...I am wondering whether @ronnie replied to his notification email instead on replying on the forum.

Yes, I replied from my email address. This is what I attempted to send;

Sorry Simon, life is a fucking nightmare just now. My wife has been seriously ill again and another rel is on deaths door in hospital, as well as all the other usual crap life stuff. I just remembered the basho today. Sorry mate, but other stuff came first.

Oh no, mate...no need for that. I was just replying to Jakusotsu. I am really sorry to hear all this awful news. :((

The rankings for Hatsu are out in Sumo Game. Gary and Miyako are back at sekiwake but have only a slight chance of ozeki promotion...they should try and pick up as many wins as they can this time. Panda is on soft kadoban and so needs a winning record to avoid a nervy Haru. Seb is back in Maegashira. And luckless Stefan is back in Juryo.

We welcome Steve to Mukade Beya, a mate of mine who wants to give the game a try. As you can see, he's a Chelsea fan, the sad bastard.

Another gaming year...perfect start for me with that GTB yusho so I really need to capitalise on that and try and win my tenth Green Mawashi. Goals for this basho are obviously to win it, but also to do well in Bench and SG. And of course Toto, where I am irritatingly kadoban.

Goals for 2019: Obviously I want to beat that 300 barrier. Also want to pull ahead of Norizo in the Green Mawashi count - so I'll want two of those at least. I want to make Bench Ozeki and Toto Yokozuna this year too. Aiming to keep my Yokozuna East SB ranking all year and break 8000 points. And, obviously, I'm aiming for another world title. Oh...and no stinking Baka Cup in my basement. ;)

As I did on ST, here is a reminder about the TORCH game.  The window is open to update your picks, or make an entry as new players are welcome.  There's a prize in this game!

  • For Pandaazuma, chishafuwaku & Chisaiyama ~~~ your updated picks are noted.  Thanks!
  • For Kuroimori, Unkonoyama, Haidouzu, ScreechingOwl, Gawasukotto (ronnie) & Ganzohnesushi ~~~ you are active for the basho, but still have time to update your picks.
  • Lord Chozo usually used ST to update his picks....  hope he's checking this.
  • For Chocshoporyu, Chankoyama, Sebunshu, Rupatengu, Kotononami, Fujiyama, Sagi & Chelseayama ~~~ join the the party.  Your entries are welcome.

- thanks!  -shimodahito
