Doitsuyama 1,260 Posted June 5, 2014 (edited) I would like to inform chokoryu how to contact me - but how can I contact him/her? Edit: I guess andonishiki is the best contact here, no? I wrote him. Edited June 5, 2014 by Doitsuyama
Achiyama 1,272 Posted June 5, 2014 Message to my group "A" members: Group A (Chocshoporyu, Fujiyama, Jakusotsu, Andonishiki) - Achiyama I got a PM from Pandaazuma that he'll submit the line-ups for Chocshoporyu and Fujiyama (who are not Sumoforum members). They will send the line-ups to him. To Jakusotsu and Andonishiki: You can send me your squads either via PM or an-email to my personal e-mail (you can find it in my Sumoforum profile). Maybe e-mail is better, because I get a sound signal on my phone when I get new mail and it will be the fastest way to know that I got mail. Also eventual refusal to send me a PM because of a full mailbox will be avoided. Good Luck to All WC benchers !!! Special thanks to Jezz for organizing 2014 BWC, and his wife Fujiko, of course, for letting him do that :-) ! It will be FUUUUN !!!
Jejima 1,498 Posted June 6, 2014 Hi all, I have now received all of the squads - and I will be announcing them to the thread soon. But one quick bit of admin. chokoryu (wife of Andonishiki) has kindly offered up her place to Maguroyama - so he will now be representing Japan, with the Ivory Coast as his counterbalance team. Jejima 1,498 Posted June 6, 2014 Here are the selection stats for all the 32 squads (including the ® and © teams). I guess the allure of Brazil playing in Brazil easily made them the favourite Yokozuna choice, making Spain and Germany the least picked teams. Brazil is the joint most picked team (over half of the players), along with a more surprising country..... 4 picks Spain Germany 6 picks Croatia Australia Honduras Argentina 7 picks Chile Ghana Algeria 8 picks Cameroon Japan Costa Rica USA Belgium 9 picks Uruguay Russia 10 picks Colombia England 11 picks France Iran Nigeria 12 picks Ivory Coast Ecuador 13 picks Greece Italy Bosnia Portugal 14 picks Mexico 15 picks Netherlands Switzerland 18 picks Brazil South Korea

Jejima 1,498 Posted June 6, 2014 (edited) Okay everyone, we need to start sending our line-ups for the first round of matches to our respective refiojis. If you don't know how to contact your refioji (or if the refioji does not know how to contact their group members), let me know, and I will let you know the email address(es) required. The first round of matches is based on the real first round matches for the World Cup (you can see the real World Cup matches in the above post, with the teams in brackets). They start with Brazil vs Croatia on Thursday 12th June at 6pm Brazil time (I think), which is Friday 13th, 6am Japan time (I think) and end with Russia vs South Korea on Tuesday 17th June at 8pm Brazil time (Wednesday 18th June, 8am Japan time). Please make sure that you know the time of the deadline for your entry. Each group (due to different time zones of the refiojis) will have a different time. Remember that your ® team is very powerful if it wins, but can be a nightmare to your chances if it draws or loses. Your © team is 'normal' with a win, but is powerful with a draw, and bad if it loses. Your other 8 (N) teams do well if they win, are neutral if they draw, but could break your chain if they lose. With that under consideration, you need to arrange your squad in order (with the most likely to win their first round match first, to the team you think has the least chance of a win last), and send that to you refioji. Please make your subject line-up like this..... Jejima Round 1 Selection Then send your line up like this.... (Please indicate your ® and © picks to make it easier for you refijoi. Jejima: 1. Denmark, 2. Sweden ©, 3. England ®, 4. Spain, 5. Japan, 6. Swaziland, 7. Hong Kong, 8. San Marino, 9. Pakistan, 10. AlgeriaComment: Please add a comment! It makes the game more fun. (Really.) Jejima 1,498 Posted June 6, 2014 (edited) Message to refiojis...... Please let me know if you are having problems contacting the 4 players in your group, and I will help you make contact. Please also announce (here on this thread), the deadline for the first round of matches. This should be at most 8 hours before the first match (preferably much less) and at most (probably) one hour before Brazil takes on Croatia. Refijois need to check the line-ups for their 4 players to make sure that their line-ups match their squads. As soon as you receive all four correct line-ups, announce them to this thread (and before the Brazil vs Croatia match). Add you own comments.... E.g. Jejima vs Fujiko will likely depend on the results of the Russia vs South Korea match. For late entries, chase up the players with reminders. If they don't enter before your deadline, remember this rule.... 9. Droning rules. Hopefully we will have no drones, but just in case....If a player is droning for the very first match, then his squad will be arranged as follows, ® team, © team, and then their remaining 8 teams in the selection order. (I.e. the team from the highest group for picks will be placed in the third slot, and the team selected from the lowest band will be placed in the tenth, final slot.)For matches following the first match, a droning player will keep his squad in the same order as for his previous match. Once all of the real World Cup round 1 matches are finished (after Russia vs South Korea), announce the results to this thread as soon as possible, with your comments. You will need to refer to the tables on previous pages. If you are unsure about this, let me know, and I will help you through it. But don't worry if you make a mistake, based on previous comps, it will be picked up by me (or someone else), fairly quickly. I think nearly every previous refioji has made at least one mistake in the past - but you soon get the hang of it. Edited June 6, 2014 by Jejima
Jakusotsu 6,401 Posted June 6, 2014 The deadline for my group (H) will be six hours before kick-off. shumitto, Doitsuyama, Nekonishiki, and Rubensan: please submit your lineups per email (as requested in my PM).
Pandaazuma 1,310 Posted June 6, 2014 To all Group G members (Domichi, Kamogawa, Kuroimori and Pitinosato), please send your line-ups to me either by PM or to the email address I sent to you six hours before the kick-off to the Brazil game. Thanks... Pandaazuma
Jejima 1,498 Posted June 6, 2014 (edited) In addition to sending your first round line-ups to your refioji, you need to send me either by email (perferred) or by PM your penalty takers for the round of 16. Every player will progress here (either in the main 'Cup' or for the 'Saucer'.) If your round of 16 match ends in a 'draw' after extra time, we move to penalties. The rules (copied and pasted, with a little adjustment) from the previous Euro 2012 are as follows... For the penalty shoot-out for the round of 16, you need to tell me your penalty takers. For this, you need to predict which teams you think will make it to the quarter-finals. Please send to me by email or PM (not your group gyoji) a list of 11 penalty takers. These are the teams that you think will make it to the quarter-finals in the order of likelihood. So, if you think that Algeria are definitely going to reach the quarter-finals, put them in first position. Penalty shoot-outs will be done in this way....The first five teams in each player's line-up, will be used. If a team has reached the quarter-finals, it scores its penalty (so you can score your first five penalties), if it hasn't reached the quarter-final, it misses. If there is a tie after the first five penalties, it is sudden death from the sixth team onward. If it is still a tie we go back to the first team on the list to continue the sudden death. After that it is the player with the fewest red cards, then fewest yellow cards that progresses. After that, it is the player that did best in the group matches, that progresses. If still evenly matched, then, we will roll a die.But anyways, please send me as soon as possible your list of penalty takers for the round of 16 matches. (I'll send a copy of mine and Fujiko's to Achiyama and Jakusotsu, to stop us from cheating.). The deadline is before the first kick-off of the tournament, so Thursday, 12th June, 18:00 (Brazil time), FRIDAY, 12th June, 06:00 (JST). Anyone missing this deadline, gets a yellow card (as per the fair play rules). Anyone not entering a penalty taker line-up before the first match of the tournament kicks off Thursday, 12th June, 18:00 (Brazil time), Saturday 9th June, 06:00 (JST)) will be 'assigned' a penalty taker list in the reverse order of the player's teams' odds at the start of the tournament, as previously given. (I.e. your lower Maegashira pick first, with your Yokozuna pick last, and no team for slot 11.) (On a side note, I have spent the best part of 7 hours working on this game today, so now I *must* focus on my wife ;-)) Edited June 7, 2014 by Jejima
