yamaneko 2 Posted March 26, 2006 How did your favorites (or just guys you follow) do this basho? Here are mine: Daishoyu (Marvin) got 5-1 in his debut. Hopefully he can keep it up. Gagamaru went 6-1 in his second basho. Masutouou boucned back from 0-7 to post a 5-2 at SD100, one of his losses coming from: Tsukasaumi who in his 3rd basho got 6-1. Oorora, the big boy cant get it together, had a terrible 2-5 Takanoyama got back on track with a 4-3 Daiki got 5-2 in his return to Makushita. Koryu, Daiki's cousin got 3-4 and blew a shot at making a Juryo Debut next basho. Baruto, well, we all know what Baruto Did. Sawai, Kageyama, Shibuya: Kageyama now is the leader of this pack, sawai and shibuya not THAT impressive of late. Kotooshu actually exceeded my expectations considered hes the one legged man this basho. Too bad for the injury, would have been nice to see a three way battle for the yusho. Takamisakari got 4th makekoshi in a row. If he keeps it up he will soon be responsible for doubling the attendance at juyro matches.

Asojima 2,874 Posted March 26, 2006 My adoptee, Hyugano, ended up 3-4 at Jonidan 2E. After spending over one year kyujo and in banzuke gai, he had come back with two back-to-back 6-1's. His first MK since returning included a loss to Masutoo and an inadvertent kneel down (tsukihiza). Hopefully, he will get back on track in May. Ichinoya ended up 4-3 at Jonokuchi 2E. He is poised for the big move!! Expect back-to-back yusho in May and July. :-( (Laughing...) Go Ama!! So much for my predictions that Hakuho would be a perennial Sekiwake (Laughing...), and that Asa would end up at 10-5 for Haru!! Unlike another vocal forum member, my reputation (for bad calls) remains in tact. B-)
Kaioshoryu 68 Posted March 26, 2006 Kaio - survived. Tochiazuma - extended the yokozuna bid for another basho. Kotomitsuki - was Kotomitsuki once again. Kisenosato - had a good basho. Wakanosato - had a good basho.
aderechelsea 125 Posted March 26, 2006 Kaiho - managed to get his KK (8-7) but didn't convince he is back into form. Hope that in May he goes for the yusho with me shouting from the sidelines ...... Daiyuchi - small MK 3-4 from ms42. He remains swamped around there ranks and he'd better pile up some weight if he wants to move upwards. Hoshihikari - got injured and went kyujo. I hope he doesn;t have something serious and that he will be fighting in May. Asashoryu - He got the yusho but looks weaker than before. Maybe it is that his opponents are stronger than before. Anyway ...a yusho is a yusho. Hakuho - He lost to the above mentioned rikishi in a kettei-sen, got the jun-yusho, the shukun-sho and the gino-sho. oh ... and he was promoted to OZEKI !!!!!! Takekaze (the Bulldog) - got 9 wins from M9w and moves onto higher grounds. His moment of shine this basho was beating Kitazakura with oshitaoshi in a bout that displayed his great compact power. Kasugao - small MK (7-8) and poor performance overall. I expected more from him. "Only" one kotenage this time .... (Holiday feeling...) Toyonoshima - mediocre performance and 6-9 record. At least he gave us a nice kirikaeshi win against Kasugao. Hakkaku Beya - The heya had a so-so performance. 16 rikishi had a KK and 11 MK. The Heyashira (Hokutoriki) took the prize of the "Most Pathetic Rikishi" in Haru basho with the stunning record of 1-14. Only Iwakiyama managed to lose from Riki and he will get a prize of equal prestige as his opponents .... Hokutumi must be really proud . i am sure next basho they will all shine !!!! Flying_Monkey 0 Posted March 26, 2006 Kyokushuzan - got kanto-sho and was consistently the most entertaining rikishi. Hakuho - well, we all know how much he came on this basho. Homasho - secured promotion to makuuchi. Mokonami - had a so-so basho, with a bit of slump in the middle, and probably hasn't done enough to be promoted. But we'll see... Kishinoyama 624 Posted March 26, 2006 As for my favorites: Baruto = You can't do any better! I picked him every day in the Chaingang game. ;-) Asashoryu = Excellent Hakuho = Excellent Ama = Impressive Kaio = Just made it! Takamisakari = Not good
ilovesumo 12 Posted March 26, 2006 Oh Happy Day........ my village flooded, stupid election-result here in Sachsen-Anhalt, But: Kyokushuzan :-O :-D (Applauding...) (Applauding...) What more can I say then YEAH! (Applauding...) I really wanna be at Oshima's party tonight (Applauding...) Kotomitsuki, Buyuzan, Kaiho -KK (Applauding...) Hakuho- ;-) Not "STRIKE" but a biiiig "COOL" (Applauding...) Kaio save- puh! (Applauding...) So- great Basho. (Applauding...)
Sanvean 0 Posted March 26, 2006 Tochiazuma - so close... Hopefully he will make it in the next basho. Shibuya - dissapointing performance. But I hope we will see him in juryo after two/three bashos. Tooyama - great basho with 5-2 record and going up in makushita. Kisenosato - good basho. But it's very hard to make any predictions about his future... Wakanosato - good to see him fighting well again.
Shimpu 0 Posted March 26, 2006 (edited) Yoshikaze - good basho (8/7) I hope that he will improve in Natsu. He was a little bit chaotic on dohyo - stress of newbie... in Juryo he has shown good balance and technic so I'm expecting the same solid sumo in makuuchi. Kotoshogiku - very good basho - I'm waiting to see him fighting highrankers in Natsu. Kisenosato - very good basho - I think he is not ready for komusubi yet, but he is improving every basho. Tochiazuma - very good basho, I keep my fingers crossed for him in Natsu. (Holiday feeling...) Sawai - he will be stronger next basho. (Punk rocker...) Kageyama - very good basho, one step closer to juryo (Showing respect...) Edited March 26, 2006 by Shimpu
Manekineko 200 Posted March 26, 2006 J2e Katayama (9-6) oshidashi M14e Toyozakura (4-11) An exchange bout, huh? It will be good to see Katayama's incredible shiko in prime-time again, 'though I'll miss smaller (younger?) of Zakura brothers. Well, hopefully he'll be back. M17e Buyuzan (8-7) Yay! Nice to see last remaining Musashigawa hairball back to stay another basho! M11e Wakanosato (11-4) yorikiri M13e Kyokushuzan (11-4) Double yay! 'Shuzan gets a sansho and skillfully evades san'yaku once again. My hero. Wakanosato goes double-digity to soar closer to his rightful banzuke placing, in spite of iffy leg. My hero. M8w Asasekiryu (10-5) tsukidashi M15w Otsukasa (4-11) Former YTB scores well again - hmm, a good candidtae for UDH next basho? Otsukasa, my hero, sinks like a small round stone back to Juryo. Ganbare, it was nice seeing you up here, come and visit again sometime! M12w Tochinonada (8-7) Not so much of a come-back as it seemed at first. Well, as long as it is kk... Tochinonada for yokozuna! M5e Kyokutenho (11-4) yorikiri M15e Tamakasuga (9-6) Double yays! are inadequate to express my glee at such good scores from two of my favorite oldies. Panis of sumo indeed... how about Alesi of sumo? I quit following F1 with pashion after Alesi quit... Anyway, Tenho is one of the greatest late-bloomers I've seen - keep wrestling until you're 40, please! And Tamakasuga is Tamakasuga, and it's good to have him. M3w Iwakiyama (4-11) Sigh. M5w Tokitsuumi (2-13) yorikiri M2w Hokutoriki (1-14) Too much yang last basho, to be repaid with this much ying? Well...

Fay 1,677 Posted March 27, 2006 Since Kotonowaka's intai, there is no real favourite for me - I nearly like them all except ... So the ones I like most Asashoryu, Kaio, Kyokushuzan, Kyokutenho, Tokitenku, Kotomitsuki, Kotoshogiku ... if I go on I have listed the whole banzuke ... So I limit myself to the lower divisions: Kakuryu finally got his KK (Showing respect...) Kagamio 5-2 :-D Takaurata 6-1 :-D (Clapping wildly...) (Clapping wildly...) and my little Koki 4-3 (Nodding yes...)
Bishonohana 0 Posted March 27, 2006 These are my Lower Rank Favs: Kageyama - 5-2 Takahashi - 3-4 Wakanoho - 5-2 Matsutoo - 5-2 Tsukasaumi 5-2 So they all did me proud except for Takahashi!! (Dribbling...)

Just kidding of course. He has done well in the past but his best days are behind him. I wonder if he is going to retire now (Dribbling...) . When I first started to watch sumo it was when Toki was doing pretty good (I miss ESPN showing sumo), and yes his good years are behind him sadly. I really don't want to see him retire, but if he keeps up this kind of performance I don't see how much longer he could keep going. Also how have you been Whitney long time no talk. I was just in Dallas a couple of weeks ago, doing some mission work. It was the second time I have been to Dallas, and I love the city. He tries to pull them down, because it doesn't seem to work, and then he will lose, and then I :'-( Ahhh yes the ipod...it takes alot of my time also...sorry (Applauding...)
