Kaiomitsuki 408 Posted February 20, 2006 How do you write "The European Union" with japanese words (modern and traditional) for the "B" section of the Kesho-Mwashi ? Thank You
Odoriou 0 Posted February 21, 2006 I don't think it's our job to work on the 'B section'. I guess they already designed this writing themselves and we have to take care of the 'A section' only. (Annoyed...)

Zenjimoto 40 Posted February 22, 2006 These are no rockets - it's my contribution to the "I support breast equality" campaign! :-D But I think generally the Bulgarian breast would be a bit bigger than the Japanese one (Blushing...)

Odoriou 0 Posted February 28, 2006 What a poetic description. :-P And an impressive design. (Sigh...) The deadline for submissions has passed, so who else is willing to show his/her creation? ilovesumo, Kaiomitsuki? Or who else took part? I hope a SF member wins the prize. (Annoyed...) Kaiomitsuki 408 Posted March 1, 2006 The deadline for submissions has passed, so who else is willing to show his/her creation? ilovesumo, Kaiomitsuki? Or who else took part? I didn't send my project... So busy last week ;-) My project was a map of europe in a dohyo... with the stars of the UE flag around the dohyo. Good luck ! Hope that the winner will be a member of the forum :-)
kotooshu_bulgaria 0 Posted March 2, 2006 (edited) I wonder will this help Bulgaria's bid to join EU. :-) Bulgaria is joining the EU for sure, there is no question about it since the Accession Treay was already signed in May 2005. The date has not been decided yet though--it's either January 1, 2007 or 2008. The later, the better, I believe, but politicians in Bulgaria tend to wish for the earlier option... Asashosakari 20,243 Posted March 9, 2006 Courtesy of Doreen Simmons on the SML: The results of the EU Delegation's contest for a design for a new kesho-mawashi to be presented to Koto-oshu in time for the May basho will be announced tomorrow, Friday 10th. Last week (Wednesday March 1st) an "advisory committee" of three went through the more than 200 entries and reduced them to two very similar designs, recommending a combination. These were then shown to Osh and his stablemaster for their approval, and the final design was agreed upon. In case anyone's wondering about the time frame, it takes about six weeks to make a kesho-mawashi.

ilovesumo 12 Posted March 10, 2006 AND THE WINNER IS: ""The designers of the winning entries are Mr. Yuya FUJINO (Tokyo) and Mr. Kyoji FUJIKI (Gifu). The chosen design for the apron will contain a circle of the twelve stars of the EU flag with the kanji character "欧" (for Europe) in the centre. This kanji will be presented in a rainbow colour motif, symbolising co-operation between Europe and Japan. An award ceremony with the winners and jury members is scheduled for the end of March. The ceremonial handing over of the kesho-mawashi to Kototoshu will take place on 24 April, in advance of the May Grand Sumo Tournament.""
