Rijicho 6 Posted October 14, 2005 I hereby open a design contest concerning the icon of sumoforum. The size should be 16*16 pixels with 256 colours. Preferably in .ico - format but it isn't a necessity as such due to magic converting tools around. http://www.sumoforum.net/favicon.ico is the current one in use naturally. Winner will be determined by me and Exil but of course we take into consideration the positive/negative feedback that possible contest entry icons get. Create. Rijicho 6 Posted October 14, 2005 Prize? Weekend in Afghanistan? Nothing as glamorous for sure but some prize is in the works. Don't know yet what kind of prize though :-S
Jonosuke 28 Posted October 15, 2005 (edited) I'd like to offer a couple of small items but obviously not exactly as glamorous as a weekend in Kabul. One is a picture banzuke from the May Basho 2003 and the other is a small hand towel (I think) with Takamisakari written in kanji along with a drawing. Both are new, never used in any way. I will leave it up to the Rijicho to "award" them (but whoever wins needs to send me his/her snail mail address). Edited October 15, 2005 by Jonosuke

Zenjimoto 40 Posted October 15, 2005 Well, in that case... :-D Okay - I tried something: Comments are welcome. :-S Lovely! (Sign of approval) I tried the photographic approach, but at 16x16 it's hard to figure out what's going on: Cheers Zenjimoto
Jakusotsu 6,392 Posted October 16, 2005 16x16 really is tough. Here's my take: SF.ico

Rijicho 6 Posted January 4, 2006 Odoriou wins the prize offered by Jonosuke. Please contact him for details. This sumo squat rikishi is simple but good. Difficult it was to choose the winner and many of the other icons were good too but this one won now. Omedetou
sekihiryu 51 Posted January 6, 2006 This sumo squat rikishi is simple but good. Difficult it was to choose the winner and many of the other icons were good too but this one won now. Omedetou No offence but I much profer the old one, the red circle with the black SF initials. If it aint broke dont fix it. When I entered the site today I was like "what is that thing?" hogging a corner of my address bar and also the tab. Was there public vote on the selection? Jonosuke 28 Posted January 6, 2006 Odoriou wins the prize offered by Jonosuke. Please contact him for details. Odo san will get the picture banzuke from 2003 Natsu with Musashimaru and Asashoryu as the two yokozunas. However I do not believe I have offered a bonus ticket to Kabul or thereabouts so that has to be worked out with the Rijicho... ;-) hopefully I can send it out sometime within the next couple of days. Odoriou 0 Posted January 6, 2006 Firstly I'd like to express my gratitude for being declared the winner. I am unworthy. (Bow...) Now about the belated critics: In this thread's first post our honorable Rijicho is inviting everybody to give positive or negative feedback and he announces to take all that into consideration. I personally had wished to get some constructive critic or hints by interested forum members, too. That worked perfectly in the sumo smilies thread, where many ideas were given, but in sumo icons thread you were surprisingly silent. Now, after everything is over and done, you suddenly start giving your opinion. Thanks for that, but why so late? It would have been the easiest thing in the world to include an "SF" in those icons somehow or to create different versions of an SF signature... Anyway... I'm looking forward to my trip to Kabul. (Holiday feeling...) Oh BTW, what's the weather like in Afghanistan at the moment? (Cold...)
sekihiryu 51 Posted January 6, 2006 (edited) personally I like the old one, its very distinctive As you can see I made my opinion quite clear in October, there is nothing belated about my criticism. Touche Nishi what is "profer" anyway? (Holiday feeling...) Edited January 6, 2006 by sekihiryu
Exil 301 Posted January 7, 2006 as sekihiryu said. its only now we see the new icon in the address bar. don't have time to read every thread and missed what this one was about. i thought it was just like the smiley one. There was also an Informative Message about this. And sekihiryu's "personally I like the old one, its very distinctive" didn't exactly sound like he was totally opposed to a new icon. Maybe, if more people had voiced their opinion back then... The new icon is here and I kinda like how it looks in my RSS aggregator. (Holiday feeling...)
