Jakusotsu 6,188 Posted May 22 Most of the front-runners got it right. I had Ichiyamamoto for Oho, but they didn't want to go too easy on poor Takayasu. And Asakoryu will get nosebleed. I figured the Kyokai might just give up on matching the leaders once Onosato got 12 wins. If they were still pairing potential jun-yusho candidates, then I would have picked Midorifuji. If they were still pairing potential jun-yusho candidates, then I would have picked Midorifuji. I felt the same way in theory, except I didn't think they would give up as long as it was mathematically possible for someone to force a playoff. I don't think Kiri was a bad choice at all. Edit: Looking at the schedule, Ura v. Tamawashi is a direct result of deciding Wakamotoharu v. Oshoma made more sense than keeping Waka in the joi against Ichiyamamoto. Given some other pairings over the past few days, it looks like the committee is starting to make some matches on the assumption of certain outcomes, and I don't think they expected Waka to lose to Takerufuji. This is curious, because the times I remember something like this happening in the past were when particular outcomes looked like a near-guarantee (e.g. Onosato and Takerufuji blazing through the bottom ranks), not when the guys involved are in matches which stand at least a fair chance of being competitive. But my memory might be lacking here. Edited May 23 by Sumo Spiffy
