Very sad to see Hoshotakamoto's intai - he was on the brink of a very promising Sekitori Sweepstake career, but chanko restaurants do need their cooks.....

I'll start the draw shortly.....  We are still missing some players - but they can join in later, if they make their intentions known. Also, are there any potential mae-zumo players out there, to give Djodjoyoshi a run for his money?

Okay, let's start the draw....

No need to randomise the Mae-zumo entrants.

Djodjoyoshi receives.....  JK14E Raiho.

Raiho has had only one (losing) bout in his past four bashos....  BUT he was ranked in Makushita a year ago.

That concludes the Mae-zumo draw for now - but any new/returning aspiring player can get a late entry to the game. Just say that you want to play. :-)

J1E Chanko Thief nicks M8W Gonoyama.

Gonoyama is on a three basho losing streak - but surely he has the quality to perform at this rank?

J5E Iwadanuki is being granted O1E Kotozakura.

The first of the big guns to be allocated! Kotozakura is on a 13 KK win-streak....  Although last basho he only scraped an 8-7...

J7E Joputosu will be championed by M11E Tamawashi.

Tamawashi will be celebrating his 40th birthday during the basho! (November 16th). Over the hill? His last four bashos have all ended up with 7-8 MKs....

J6W Athenayama will be keeping a close eye on.....  M11W Meisei.

Last basho, Meisei had a 7-day losing streak in the first week....

J3E Gernobono gets O1W Hoshoryu.

It's another big gun! It has been three years since Hoshoryu last had an MK. Good pick for Gernobono?

J4W Chijanofuji will support M5W Kotoshoho.

Last November, Kotoshoho won the yusho! (The Juryo yusho, with a 12-3 record.)

NB Despite getting this far, without any Juryo rikishi being drawn, they are all available on the wheel. Sometimes randomness happens that way....

J6E Kachikoshi will be hoping for a kachikoshi from J10E Onosho.

...and that is the first Juryo rikishi drawn for this basho. Onosho has won one bout in his last two outings, spending 21 days on the sidelines. Will he be on the day one torikumi?

J3W Kaiowaka has drawn J4E Tamashoho.

This Mongolian's highest ever rank was J1W - this might be his chance (with a decent KK) to break into Makunouchi for the first time?

M2W Jakusotsu has been granted..... J13E Wakaikari.

Shin-Juryo Wakaikari has never had an MK this far into his career! He started off in Jonokuchi. Although he does seem to specialise in scraping KKs, as his last five were all 4-3.
