Toyota likely to be a sponsor. Gospodin 270 Posted June 14 ...which, ideally, means Hakuho has a bottomlesss budget for his new endeavour. I will watch the further development with a lot of curiosity.

Asashosakari 20,270 Posted July 20 As I was saying since before the Miyagino guys had even ended up in Isegahama... Considering Kaio hasn't brought in any foreign-shusshin rikishi in the 10 years that the heya has existed, I suspect that's only a limited concern of his. But sure, if they decide to outright treat the absorption of Miyagino-beya by [insert other stable here] as a temporary caretaker phase, it's possible that the Kyokai will consider them as separate entities for the purposes of foreign recruiting.
Ripe 82 Posted July 20 OK, shouldn't that decision be made a year ago or even before they forced shut down of Miyagino? And if it is in "temporary caretaker phase", who is going to take it out of that phase? Or will this "temporary caretaker phase" last until all the former Miyagino rikishi retire? Which might take some time considering oldest former Miyagino rikishi still active is Enho at just 30 years old with most of them being in 20-25 age bracket. A year ago Isegahama had a "real" foreign rikishi, so the answer is No.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say. Obviously this hasn't been a spur of the moment decision, since at minimum it had to be considered back in January when Ochirsaikhan was permitted to start his six-month apprenticeship. And given that I had this outcome on my radar even last year, I'd be surprised if they didn't also have contigency plans already back then. That nothing was actually announced until now is irrelevant. Edited July 20 by Asashosakari
