Sekitori Heya Game (SHG) Haru 2017 ENTRY + STANDINGS

Recommended Posts

14th edition of SHG - Haru 2017. Here we go!

RECRUITING NEW PLAYERS for this easy pre-basho game!!!

Last basho was amazing - we had 20 players. Let's try to beat this - I'm aiming at 25 this time.

HARU 2017 TOPICS:

10 teams again with almost no personal changes in the lineups - the only change is Kizenryu's unsurprising fall back to makushita, which leaves Kise with only 4 sekitori.

We should keep our fingers crossed for Takagenji and Toyonoshima - if they are promoted to Juryo we'll have a Takanohana-beya debut and a Tokitsukaze-beya comeback in May!

Click here to fill in the entry form!

Rules:

The player's task is to sort the sekitori within their respective heyas by how many wins he/she thinks those sekitori will get during the upcoming basho.

TOP - most wins, BOTTOM - least wins. In case of two rikishi with identical number of wins, the score of the one with a higher rank will be considered better.

Scoring:

Base points:
After the basho, 1 point will be awarded for every correctly guessed A>B-type (A has more wins than B) relation between every two members of each "team".

Bull’s-eye points will be awarded for getting the order of the whole "team" right (a bull's-eye) (the more sekitori in a heya, the higher the bonus):
+3 for a 3-sekitori heya,
+5 for a 4-sekitori heya
+8 for a 5-sekitori heya
+12 for a 6-sekitori heya

+17 for a 7-sekitori heya etc.

There are also 2 bonus question for 4 points each:

1. Which of the featured teams do you think will have the highest average number of wins?

2. Which of the featured teams do you think will have the lowest average number of wins?

(1. In case of an identical average number of wins, the scores of bigger teams will be treated as better. In case of two or more equally big teams getting the same best average number of wins, all of them will be considered "winners".

And vice versa for 2. - in case of two or more identical lowest averages, the biggest team is considered worse)

Highest possible score for Haru 2017: 129 + 8 = 137 pts

TIE-BREAKERS:

1. Most base points (that is, excluding bull's-eye points and bonus question points)

2. Base points for 6-sekitori heya

3. Base points for 5-sekitori heya

4. Base points for 4-sekitori heya

5. Base points for 3-sekitori heya

Click here to fill in the entry form!

DEADLINE: beginning of the first sekitori bout on Day 1 (hopefully someone will be able to provide this information if needed)

if anyone wants to edit their picks, you can send me your corrected orders of the teams you'd like to change by PM. Of course, you can also make a whole new entry if you wish.

don't forget to check whether you want to change your answers to the bonus questions as well!

Is there need for a re-entry (or a PM to you) because of an absent rikishi or is an absent rikishi "out of the game"?

Absent rikishi are not out of the game. If a rikishi is absent throughout the basho, they just have 0 wins, which affects their position within their heya and the heya's average.

@PhorCillic - I'm sorry but I can't accept your entry. Entries have to be made before the start of Day 1 sekitori bouts. You will be given a kosho status, meaning you should maintain your rank on the next banzuke.

FINAL RESULTS

Wow, what a day it was in Osaka! And what a day in SHG!

Kisenosato got the yusho in January and then, with a miraculous comeback, he won the Haru yusho as well.

This has been mirrored in Sekitori Heya Game, as GANSEKIIWA won his second basho in a row!!! Congratulations!!! (Yushowinner...)

What granted him the title was the 18-point Oitekaze bull's-eye. He should thank Endo for beating Tochinoshin and Gagamaru for beating Tsurugisho.

The winner also had a small Sadogatake BE.

According to the SHG rule on ozeki promotions, any kachi-koshi in Natsu 2017 should grant Gansekiiwa an ozeki promotion. He will need to be ranked at sekiwake on the Natsu banzuke for this to happen, though. I am almost sure that it will be the case but we will have to wait until the SHG Banzuke Committee releases the Natsu ranking.

Yesterday's leader Holleshoryu finishes second with small BE's for Oguruma and Sadogatake + 4 points for BQ1

just_some_guy ended up with the bronze, just one point behind Holleshoryu, even though he had one more base point than the Jun-Yusho winner. He got BE's for Tomozuna and Kasugano.

Sakura came fo(u)rth with her last-minute Kise BE.

1 Gansekiiwa 55 13-2
2 Holleshoryu 48 11-4
3 just_some_guy 47 10-5
4 Sakura 46 10-5
5 Pandaazuma 45 10-5
6 kuroimori 45 10-5
7 Ryoshishokunin 45 10-5
8 Tenshinhan 44 9-6
9 Andonishiki 39 7-8
10 Senkoho 39 7-8
11 Rhyen 36 6-9
12 chishafuwaku 35 6-9
13 Achiyama 34 6-9
14 shimodahito 33 5-10
15 Shokikogi 31 4-11
16 Suwihuto 28 3-12
