Recommended Posts

Satsumariki (Onoe Beya), Wakasuruga (Onomatsu Beya) and Sugita (Sad goodbyes...) (Weeping...) (Kitanoumi Beya) will retire after Aki Basho. Sugita was bothered with injuries lately and will return to his hometown to work in the business of his parents he said.

Also Dewahikari from Dewanoumi. He'll stay in Tokyo for the time being, then travel to the States.

Tochinonada? Chiyotaikai?

Unlikely. Tochinonada will continue in juryo; he's been demoted before. Chiyotaikai will no doubt be back in November, kadoban yet again.

Yeah, one time in more then ten years. And in this one basho he had a 13-2 yusho. I fear at 35 years he just isn't at this level anymore.

I didn't say it would be easy for him. I just pointed out that it wasn't unprecedented.

Satsumariki (Onoe Beya), Wakasuruga (Onomatsu Beya) and Sugita (Neener, neener...) (Weeping...) (Kitanoumi Beya) will retire after Aki Basho. Sugita was bothered with injuries lately and will return to his hometown to work in the business of his parents he said.

Sugita (27) is to join his father's insurance business. Wakasuruga (31), who went 5-2 at high Sandanme was assured a Makushita return, but "I feel I can't win in Makushita anymore. I have reached my limit". He will "look for work" in his home town. Both are from Shizuoka, both are small-bodied. Sugita: "My physical condition has been deteriorating for the last half year. I couldn't do any keiko".

Ozakiumi is back in Shizuoka planning his travels to Canada to study English. Planning for a year, then back to Japan to work....
