Kintamayama 47,297 Posted January 19, 2006 Tochiazuma.
Koriyama 0 Posted January 19, 2006 Tochiazuma. For two reasons. Ad primum - He got his KK on day 8 three times and every time he also took yusho . Ad secundum - Mr. Kintamayama said so. (On the banzuke...)
Jejima 1,498 Posted January 19, 2006 Kotooshu? And why not (On the banzuke...) (Probably because at the start of the basho, I didn't think he'd get more than 9 as a shin-ozeki, but there may still be space on the band-wagon for me to hop on (On cloud nine...) ) With a bit of luck we're entering a new era of sumo, the Asa-Koto era, no wait, better make that the Asa-Koto-Haku era, gee no Asa-Koto-Haku-Hochi-Tochi era..... I think one basho different to normal has made me get too excited. No doubt, Asashoryu will have the Yusho warpped up on day 13 in March (Alien stuff...) Yangnomazuma 79 Posted January 19, 2006 Certainly the winner of the Hokutoriki -v- Hakuho bout. I give the edge to Hakuho since a win there evens the table and he's already faced the toughest of his challenges so day 14/15 should be his wins as well. Tochiazuma/Kotooshu/Asashoryu have a tough pair of matches within the triumvirate and the Ozekis have a tough bout in the remaining day as well. It will certainly be the best yusho race we've had for MANY basho.
Asashosakari 20,272 Posted January 19, 2006 Let's put my two cents down for Tochiazuma, as well.
Avitohol 0 Posted January 19, 2006 (edited) voted for kotooshu. about time to get first yusho. (In jonokuchi...) Edited January 19, 2006 by Avitohol
aderechelsea 125 Posted January 19, 2006 the hakuho match will probably be a very tricky bout because both rikishi should have no problem getting their favourite grips in no time. Hakuho likes his shitate left and Oshu his uwate right. If they both try to go there they practically eliminate each other's strong positioning (even though i consider Hakuho more dangerous with the shitate). If one of them decides to avoid doing the obvious then he might have the element of surprise in his pocket. now from theose two i expect Hakuho (again) to be more strategically prepared when entering the dohyo so i suppose a tsuppari attack with a bit of a harite at the tachi-ai would not be such a surprise. trying to visualize the bout in my head i "see" Hakuho winning that one easily. and even if Kotooshu will try to lift Hakuho a bit for his yorikiri attack, i am sure Hakuho has the strength and the technique (which Iwakiyama lacked for example) in order to pull the throw from that position ... ikishima 0 Posted January 19, 2006 I don't know why I voted for Tochiazuma. It just seemed like a good idea at the time. I did put him over Asashoryu as the favorite for this poll.
Zuikakuyama 1 Posted January 20, 2006 This poll should be closed.
iwokayama 0 Posted January 20, 2006 Not yet. Asa can help Hakuho, beating Tochiazuma in final day.
Jesinofuji 11 Posted January 20, 2006 Hakuho has the best chance, Azuma will fall on Senshuraku. (didn't vote cause I'm late)
