Rocks 1,809 Posted January 15, 2020 Mixed night but didn't hurt too bad. Terrible 4 in SG to go 1-3. THAT needs to change. Pre-basho is looking pretty bad for me except Juryo Game.

Pandaazuma 1,310 Posted January 16, 2020 The horror show on the dohyo rumbles on. Ronnie's great scoring is rewarded by a comfy 4-1 record. Domichi is the only other player with that score. Pandaazuma 1,310 Posted January 16, 2020 Ugh, basically. Not only was it an awful day, I picked badly as well and it almost cost me SG. The judges did their best to annoy me though by robbing Okinoumi of that straight win but he came through to save me. I am disgusted at my picking today though. Stupid errors almost cost me there. Will make sure that doesn't happen tomorrow. The pre-basho games were awful today as all my main lads lost but there are always days like this. Still in contention in quite a few, although UDH has now joined Juryo Game and SCS as write-offs. And the Baka Cup streak just keeps on streaking! 5-0! GAMBARIMASU! Haidouzo 78 Posted January 16, 2020 Lost in every single game but Bench. And that includes TUG, where I somehow put in my 3rd choice as my backup, which broke the Yok-run winning streak I had going on. After missing TTT on Day 1, this is the kind of thing that just kills me. GANBARIMASU

But it's another lottery basho so half the days are like this. :( Lottery is an understatement, I miss the bashos of years past where 2-3 bouts felt >85% certain. It's almost impossible to compare ones performance in games to past basho. That being said, I'm happy with my results in daily games this basho, but not necessarily my performance. 4-1 in SG and ISP. I'm still alive in Chain Gain (top 3!). 0-5 in TTT, which is disappointing because that's a game I "somewhat" regularly (2-6 bashos) scored masters points in when I was active back in 2015. Pre-bashos are a disaster as always. Edited January 16, 2020 by Domichi
Haidouzo 78 Posted January 17, 2020 Lost everywhere but ISP and TTT. This is getting sad. Completely randomized DST entries would almost surely have a better total score right now than I do. The Machine has lost it in DST over multiple basho. I'm near the bottom of the bottom group now. GANBARIMASU

Pandaazuma 1,310 Posted January 18, 2020 I was just thinking this morning that I haven't had an absolute stinker of a day yet but fate duly delivered. I managed a win only in TTT. The rest were a disaster. Ishiura's loss cost me three games as I was remembering Tsuru in a wheelchair yesterday! WTF was that?? And Yutakayama screwed me in the rest. Really needed Shodai and Yuta today, and they both managed to lose from winning positions, which didn't cheer me up much. Oh, and two people jumped me in Odd. And I lost the Baka Cup to go 6-1. Pre-basho is a mix of good, OK and comical. If I come out of this basho with 40 points, I'll consider that very nice indeed. GAMBARIMASU!
Pandaazuma 1,310 Posted January 18, 2020 The wackiness continues. Owl lost 9-4!! Amazing. Still awful luck for Gary. Chisha beat the Juryo leader. Dustin came back to earth with a crash. Haidouzo 78 Posted January 18, 2020 Won in Odd (modestly), Quad, Toto, TTT, and DST. Good enough for a disturbingly large tie for 4th in TTT, which simply must be my best current chance for points. How late did Irodori withdraw?! I checked the NSK list so late I thought I knew they couldn't possibly get listed any later.

Rocks 1,809 Posted January 18, 2020 Well, a 6 in SG, at least it was a win. Should have been a 7 with Yutakayama win. He cost me in Bench too. Did well in the dailies but pre-basho is a disaster. Might as well have used my UDH lineup for the other games. I would have been better off.
Pandaazuma 1,310 Posted January 19, 2020 Just shaking my head at my picks here today. Totally lost the plot. Have bloody awful neck pain these last three days so it must be affecting my brain. I went against my system in Toto in about six bouts even though I expressly don't want to overrule my system this basho and five went against me. And then in SG I took out Kiribayama and Yutakayama (both won) and replaced them Tochinoshin and Asanoyama (both lost). Both those replacements were expressly forbidden by my algorithm. That cost me an easy win and could potentially lead to my eventual demotion from Yokozuna. I'd deserve it with this level of stupidity. In a way I am glad I lost all the games (except Quad) today. Perhaps it will teach me not to arse around with my system. Never said that before! ;)

Pandaazuma 1,310 Posted January 20, 2020 Panda got back on track with a more Yokozuna-like performance but 5-4 is still a bit close to MK for comfort. Scott is having a bit of a nightmare - the Machine is not liking this changing of the guard shenanigans. Owl overcame Rupert in a high-quality bout. Gary slaughtered Chanko to keep his comeback on track. Speaking of comebacks, another notable scalp for Jan today as he beat an ozeki. Ganzo is somehow 6-3 with 3 AADs for and 5 against! After his hard luck in Kyushu, it looks like he is getting some payback. And Unko lost to fall to 4-5. Ganzo is the only one with even a slight chance of glory. We are mid-table mediocrity central. Mark and Sergio won in Juryo to improve to positive records. Gansekiiwa is having some tough opponents and is doing OK at 4-5. Seb is getting slaughtered with some very bad luck. Steve and Ronnie are flying in Makushita. Steve could have a chance of Juryo promotion so he'll want four more to make sure. Dustin lost a tie today but he is also 6-3. Almost all the top ten of the game score leaders are in Makushita. Go figure! Day 9: Rank Record Points AADs Opp AADs 10 8+ 5- TB TB+ Who? Pandaazuma 1,310 Posted January 20, 2020 Weird day. I mean, I picked really well in SG and won Quad and Odd (to go back to second) but I was nowhere in Toto. Don't get that at all. After a horror weekend it was nice to get back to winning ways. Pre-basho looks OK but leaving Shodai out of Bingo is coming back to bite my arse big time. I put him in PO though, thank God, and I have a chance of top ten there if Myogiryu can pick up a three wins or so this week. 7-2 in the Baka Cup. Will it all be over when we meet on day 13?
