This is a link to some of his illustrations.

I enjoy looking at the ones of just day to day life like sitting around the heya, walking down the street, preparing chanko ect. giving a glimpse of human-ness to it all.

I opened this link that Inhashi gave above,

http://www.sumoforum.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=12024

and saw the photograph by Makoto Kubota that aderechelsea posted, so I went and found his site.

Plenty of other photographs to see.

A free art exhibition of Harumafuji's oil paintings will be held in Ginza this month from the 23rd to 27th. His paintings will be available for purchase acquisition where proceeds will be donated to Heart Saving Project, a non-profit organization providing medical support for children in Mongolia with heart disease. The yokozuna attended an art school while in Mongolia and held his first solo exhibition at age 15.

Some more pics - he painted the new ones during his kyujo, signed Harumafuji with romaji, the older were with kanji

I hadn't noticed it yet, but presently singer Masuiyama, like his father Masuiyama I, both as Mihogaseki-oyakata shisho of Kitanoumi, is a reasonably good painter as well. Both have had paintings in Nikakai exhibitions, Nikaten.
At the new Kitanoumi exhibition in the sumo museum a kimono of Kitanoumi is on display, with the dragon on it painted by Masuiyama the father.
151224_05.jpg

on the net several sumo paintings of Masuiyama the singer son can be found
20090905132924.jpg

this won't display here

from the nikaten site (2002 exhibition)
24toku05.jpg

I couldn't find any information if the cover for his single "Sonna Yuko ni ..." was painted by himself (can't be embedded either)

A very merry one to all the Sumo Artfans.

The art club of a high school in Touon-city, Ehime, has produced the votive picture for next year, the year of the monkey.
They selected sumo as the topic, to show Japanese traditional culture to the world.
The 3 monkeys are thus not in the see-no hear-no say-no poses, but active in a shiranui-style yokozuna dohyo-iri:
The 3 kesho mawashi read 水天宮, Suitengu, the name of the shrine where the painting is placed for the whole year.

I find this pleasingly cheeky.

Any of you wishing to get your hands on it should click here

http://www.alittlemarket.com/peintures/fr_sumo_arts_martiaux_detail_ceinture_-16367931.html

The artist, Christina S, says; "La complexité de l'attache de la ceinture du sumo a retenue mon attention."

Oil on canvas.

Ah well. It's Japanese so 'La complexité' is almost mandatory, or should I say obligatoire.

Sculpture

I found this image here; http://ewilan-photos.jalbum.net/statues/ There are plenty of images of other statues in the album; good, bad and ugly.

Homepage: http://ewilan-photos.jalbum.net/

I don't know who created it, just that it's in Monthey, Switzerland.

To honour Geek's victory, some geek art.

A bronze statue of Futabayama, made using stereo photo-sculpture equipment.

Here's the page to read all about how they did it ; http://nikon.com/about/feelnikon/recollections/r10_e/index.htm

pic_01.jpg

Futabayama has his own museum, with another splendid statue ;

This is artwork of Wakui Yoichi. There's quite a few so I put them in a spoiler to avoid any loading issues. What is interesting is that he paints actual current sekitori battling it out. Some include various kimarite.
