Premier Fantasy Football

Recommended Posts

I doubt there will be much interest here but one never knows. The English football season kicks off next weekend and I am playing the Premier Fantasy Football game. It's free and well-designed...and of course we can have a friends league. I played it last year for the first time and really enjoyed it because it doesn't require much time to maintain - you only have one transfer per week so you can't spend ages fiddling around with your team.

If we get three or four people, I'll set up a dedicated league, so please let me know if you are up for it either in this thread or by PM.

You can register here:

http://fantasy.premierleague.com/

Make sure you read the rules...they're pretty simple/standard but there are a couple of things you may not have seen before (like 'wildcards' and double points for captains).

Also, be careful to register for the free game, not the pay one!

Cheers,

Simon

I've played this fantasy league for the last 3 seasons, so you can sign me up for your league.

You can actually have more than one transfer per week, it just costs you 4 points for each extra one. There are 2 wildcards for multiple free transfers.

Good luck with your league Simon !

It was English football a long time ago. Currently the Premier League exists of more foreigners than ever before. If I had to select a team no Englishman would be part of it. Most English players are rubbish.

When Owen Hargreaves came in as substitute in the 74th minute of the Championsleage game Bayern Munich vs FC Arsenal in the round of 16 in 2004/2005 he was the only English player on the pitch. However, he was playing for the German team not the English!

A football trivium I find worth being remembered.

Game data can be found here: http://fussballdaten.de/championsleague/2005/endrunde/achtelfinale/bmuenchen-arsenal/

And that's a good enough reason for not playing?

At least you seem to know some of them, which I don't.

Well, I just looked at Team England which participated in the last WC in Brazil. Not a single player convinced me. And if these were the best the others must be even worse... On the other hand I'm not really familiar with all the foreigners (except the German World Cup winners Schürrle, Podolski, Mertesacker and Özil) in EPL.

Edit: Completely forgot to mention Andre Schürrle

OK, I'll give it a try. I'm in. You can sign me up for your league, Simon. As expected my team is full of foreigners...

When Owen Hargreaves came (...)

By the way, he was born in Canada. With regards to foreigners in European Leagues I think the ship has sailed. Even in the National Teams, where only 'locals' are allowed, there is plenty of diversity.

I am a newbie in English football, but I created my team and will join your league.

I do not know a lot of players so my team is full of French players and former French championship players...

Thanks, everyone. Well it looks like we have four so that's enough to set up a league.

To join, click on 'leagues' and then 'join a league'. Our league name is 'Sumo Lads' and the code is 1407614-428450

Anyone else can join at anytime, obviously.

Best of luck!

Thanks, Achiyama!

Jezz: yeah it is on every year. You can still join this year but you'll have a little catching up to do. It's only been two weeks though...not so many points garnered as yet.

I also missed 2 weeks and just joined, but there are so many matches to be played, so at the end I don't think it will matter.
